Julianne Pigoon Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Yeah, I think it's going to be a while yet for the MA decisions to go out.
rachelelin Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 To Mr Grimwig who posted on February 16th... I can see that you've been very successful with your applications - congrats I'm still waiting on a couple of decisions but am pretty sure i'll be re-applying next year. If it's not too much trouble, do you think you could post a few tips about how you went about writing your personal statement? Content etc? Would be a huge help. I'm an international so it's quite a challenge to judge how to handle American schools. Thanks!!!
ScoutFinch Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I'm another unfortunate MA applicant. I would just like to know one way or another. I think I was fine until my well-intentioned mother started planning a Vermont visit. I'd be content in Vermont, but Brandeis and Northeastern are my top picks and It'd be awfully convenient if I had a Boston school to visit on my to Burrrrrrrrlington.
maryfra Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Just got an unofficial acceptance with aid! Me too! I'm so happy! I was just waiting for some good news to start posting, as I was 100% depressed! I received 4 official rejections and two implicit ones and I thought I would need to reapply next fall. just to say you never know what will happen!
JeremiahParadise Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Just got an unofficial acceptance with aid! Congrats! Since you had mentioned driving thru campus sometime soon, and since I assume this means you're unfamiliar with the area, keep in mind that even though Brandeis/Waltham are pretty suburban, they're both just 10 minutes' drive from Porter/Davis/Harvard Square/Mass Ave/etc. As for UVM, I had a buddy get his MA there, and he was always someone I looked up to, academically, and I know he really enjoyed his time there. And, from personal experience, I can say that Burlington is lovely.
ScoutFinch Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Thanks JeremiahParadise! Looks like I'll have some serious decisions to make!
xfgdfrmgpo332 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) If anyone is going to Brandeis to work with Laura Quinney - MAD PROPS! She is amazing (don't know her as a person, but her scholarship is some of the best stuff on Romanticism now, I think). Edited March 9, 2012 by joega1111
Julianne Pigoon Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Anyone heard anything about the MA lately? I'm about to email them, but thought I'd check here first.
filibustamove Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Anyone heard anything about the MA lately? I'm about to email them, but thought I'd check here first. I was wondering about this, too. Please let us know if you find out anything new!
maryfra Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I was accepted with partial funding on March 8. They sent me an email and said that I would receive a formal offer soon. I don't know how many people got in or if they are still accepting people! Hope this helps you.
Julianne Pigoon Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Just got an email from William Flesch telling me I've been waitlisted, and to let them know if it's one of my top choices. The waiting game is over for me! YAY. Good luck to anyone else still waiting to hear back :]
