sociology27 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 fuck, shit, ass sorry, I was hoping for this one for personal reasons. I hope not all acceptances went out, but once again I have that feeling in my stomach that I'm rejected. Anyone want to claim it? inwhatway 1
MarxianSociologist Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I'm one of the acceptances. I wouldn't give up until you get a firm rejection though. You never know how things will work out with these different waves of admissions and such.
MarxianSociologist Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I was actually in the same situation, as far as wanting to get into Northwestern for personal reasons (aside from it being a great program). My boyfriend has already been accepted into the English program there, and we were really nervous that we were gonna get split up because we didn't have any overlapping acceptances yet. So yay for NU!!!
ohhello Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Open house is on the 28th and 29th of March. But, I'm equally if not more excited to visit my friend in St. Louis... Personal reasons abound for Northwestern.
sociology27 Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 congrats Marx. I'm trying to stay optimistic. But let's be real; 9 out of 10 times (prob. more), if you're not in the first wave, you're not in at all. But I'm not complaining. I threw out a bunch of apps, got into a few schools, got rejected from a few, got waitlisted, and still havent heard anything from others. So there are people who haven't been as lucky as I have. I won't be complaining if I end up where I've already gotten in. Cheers
felicidad Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I am another Northwestern acceptee. Didn't post on the results page, though.
sociology27 Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 well, I guess my fears were justified... just impulsively checked the website and la-di-da, there she is, a nice standard rejection letter just for me. So it goes.
woowoo Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 sociology27, Where do you see the message? The "view decision" button in the system? I do not see anything there...Thx
flowerblitz Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 me neither. if it hasn't appeared does this mean they haven't made a decision yet? blah.
woowoo Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 yeah...it's kinda weird that two says they see rejections on the website...
Cup of Tea Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Northwestern is my first choice, and I was not in the first wave of acceptances, nor do I see a rejection on the website. I wish they would just put me out of my misery... This one really sucks.
sociology27 Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 For me there was a link on the bottom of the website saying "view decision"... if you don't have that, maybe you're still in the running? Or maybe they're just uploading the rejections slowly.
Cup of Tea Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Still nothing on the website. Decision Status: An admissions decision has not yet been rendered. According to the results survey, decisions went out in two batches last year. Well, at least I have time to ease into the bad news.
lexicana Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Last year I was waitlisted about a week after the first acceptances went out. I thought for sure I had been rejected but kept wondering why my status wasn't being updated. I never made it off the waitlist so in the end it was the same as a rejection. This year I still haven't seen an update on my status making me wonder what is going on. It could be that it takes a while to update all the applicant's status or another possible waitlist. Either way, I take it a rejection.
Sociologist24 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 So I've been feverishly checking the graduate admissions tracking system, and like Cup of Tea my status said Decision Status: An admissions decision has not yet been rendered. each day until today. When I logged in this morning it said: Decision Status: An admissions decision has been rendered. and said to login to Apply Yourself to view the decision. But when I log in and click on "your application status is now available online," it opens up a new window with nothing in it. I've tried logging in through Firefox and Internet Explorer and the window is always blank. Did anyone else have this problem? And is this how everyone else found out about their status?

fm0003 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I'm having the same problem using safari on my phone. I'm actually on a layover in Chicago, so I'm even more irrationally agitated than I would be if I were at home.
ohhello Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 The Graduate Program Assistant has already sent out an Open House email. She didn't bcc the email, so I can see that she emailed 26 individuals. No news at this point would either mean a wait list or a rejection :/
Cup of Tea Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Just to get the frustration out: mine STILL says Decision Status: An admissions decision has not yet been rendered.
maximus82 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Northwestern waitlists people every single year. They also do the clusters things, so if you applied for a cluster it might have something to do with that. good luck!
Waits Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 ugh, finally rejected this evening. That's one waitlist and a heap of rejections. Sigh. I clearly aimed too high.

Hey everyone, so I checked again in google chrome and a preformatted rejection letter came up. Hope this doesn't rain on everyone's parade too much, but this is just what happened to me. Maybe those of you still waitlisted will get some good news! Best of luck
Cup of Tea Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Northwestern waitlists people every single year. They also do the clusters things, so if you applied for a cluster it might have something to do with that. good luck! Hm, I have, actually. Maybe you should not have told me, though, this just got my hopes up again
undmich Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 anyone applied to MORS(management, organization, and sociology) here?
