If you don't receive any emails for interviews in February should you assume that you won't be accepted? Or that this means you are not their first choice? (ie. you will prob be waitlisted or declined acceptance)

It depends on the program. Not all of them even do interviews. I've gotten two acceptances and have not been interviewed anywhere yet. If the programs you've applied to definitely hold interviews (if you're seeing on the results survey that people are scheduling them) and you're not invited to one, then it could mean you've been rejected or wait listed.

It's hard to say for sure. In my field at least it seems pretty much that if you aren't invited for an interview or the interview date passed without an invite to interview that you can pretty much assume rejection. However, I remain optimistic that in some cases it could be a pending waitlist notification instead depending on many factors. Each program is different. I've gotton nothing but rejections so far, some schools sent them the same time they sent others interview invites. Other schools wait until after they've made all their acceptances to reject.

Like everyone else has said it really depends on the program. Two of my schools held interviews recently and just sent out acceptances. I did not get an interview at either, however, one school rejected me while the other placed me on the waitlist. It just depends unfortunately. I'm pretty much assuming that if I don't interview then I will be rejected, that way if I am waitlisted I can be pleasantly surprised but that is just me.

Thats how I feel as a fellow psych person. I've gotten nothing but outright rejections so far so a wait list at this point would be great!

@queens: February is still really early for some programs and really late or others. Some do interviews before acceptances and others don't. Some will basically deem you as guaranteed but still invite you through the interview stage like everyone else. I guess its kind of impossible to know exactly unless you call or email someone. But, I'd wait on that until at least a couple weeks after the wave.
