blackwizard420 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 This seems to be the opposite of what everyone else has asked about, but I went to a really conceptual, interdisciplinary undergraduate program and I want to get more traditional, "master printer"-type training. What are the best schools for this? Are any of the CUNY schools good traditional programs? I live in New York and I'm not eager to leave, but I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks! And good luck to everyone who applied for 2012!
Eboni_Rain Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 University of New Mexico and University of Arizona both have top rated MFA programs especially in printmaking
Resendes8909 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Tamarind Institute. http://tamarind.unm.edu/education.html Its connected with Univ. New Mexico, so ebonie you are correct. Its mostly lithography though.
leee Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 If you're doing representational figurative work NYAA has a decent program with stellar faculty and visiting artists. Also, I just visited MassArt and their printmaking studio was the size of the entire third floor of classrooms, offices, and studios where I had my undergrad. Gigantic is putting it lightly.
blackwizard420 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Thanks! Tamarind is like, a dream school. Mick, you gave me a lot of stuff to start with! I've started researching this myself too, obviously, but it just seems like everywhere wants to emphasize how conceptual and interdisciplinary their printmaking programs are, when I am interested in finding a super-technical program.
