crystalleem
What do y'all think: would it be forward to send Dr. Wegner an e-mail asking about one's application status? I have to respond to a Canadian offer by March 21st, so.... Thoughts? I don't think so. You have a deadline and a decision to make. I think they would understand. Datatape
Seconded. Just a polite note saying that you have a deadline from an international university that's coming due in a couple weeks would probably be the best way to go about it.
Timshel
What do y'all think: would it be forward to send Dr. Wegner an e-mail asking about one's application status? I have to respond to a Canadian offer by March 21st, so.... Thoughts? Good luck getting a respond. As I've previously stated, I emailed him regarding my application status over two weeks ago and never got a response. I've heard that some people had success calling, though, so I think that might be a better option.
cquin
Hoping I don't fall into the category of the last few rejections left to send out. Cquin...did she give any indication of when the other notices will go out? Nope, she didn't say. It MUST be soon, right??
cquin
Aaaand I just got a call from Sidney Dobrin telling me I'm in! So. Fucking. Excited! Good luck to everyone waiting! I'm assuming more notifications will go out today and tomorrow. lyonessrampant, Two Espressos and Timshel

crystalleem
Cquin - Are you the master's admit posted on the survey board? Congrats either way!
marlowe23
I'm glad I got my acceptances first--or else all of this would be killing me (it's still bugging me now, nonetheless). Hang in there everyone!

crystalleem
Saw another MA admit go up. Does that mean they are done with PhD admits? I still haven't heard anything.
WendyMoira
That last one was probably me. I got the same call as cquin. So bummed because my lunch ended started just as the phone rang; couldn't answer with 25 eleventh-graders staring at me. cquin--any heads-up on what I should expect? Dobrin hasn't called me back yet, but I want spoilers! crystalleem--I'm not sure about that. I think they make you apply for their MA before PhD--no? I can't remember... crystalleem
I'm just wondering because a few PhD acceptances were posted a day or two and now come the MA admits. It makes me wonder if they are done with the PhD. I already have my MA, so I don't think UF makes you get one from them.
crystalleem
Well, I can't take it anymore! I emailed every program that I am still waiting on, only because all the schools I haven't heard from have already issued acceptances, waitlists, and/or rejections. I'm going crazy over here. I would rather know than live in hopeful denial. Whoever said, "Ignorance is bliss" surely never felt the torture that is applying for PhD programs. I'll post anything I hear, especially for all of you who are in the same boat as me. Can't they just tell us already???
cquin
That last one was probably me. I got the same call as cquin. Haha, I received the call during my lunch break as well! And I only had about five minutes to speak with him, so we're going to have a more in-depth conversation tomorrow. The gist of it was: full tuition waiver, plus stipend--I think he said $9,000 a year, but I could be mistaken. You begin teaching your second year, for your first year you mentor (not sure exactly what that entails). He began to talk about health insurance but I had to cut him off to get back to work. For a Master's program, I think it's a pretty incredible deal!

I can't tell from the site whether it feeds directly into the phd or not.
figuredso
So that Phd applicants maintain hope: I was just admitted today (Film and Media track). So, they seem to still be in the processing of notifying. Good luck, everyone!

crystalleem
Just for anyone who may be wondering, I did receive an email back from Dr. Wegner this morning. Part of the email said, "We are in fact in the middle of contacting all those who applied to our program, and the process will be completed sometime in the next week or so. While we are unable to offer you admission at this time, you are currently on our waitlist, and this means our admissions committee was impressed by your application and feels that you will thrive in a strong doctoral program." So...that means they aren't finished for those of you still waiting. Those of you accepted, if you think there's a chance you might go elsewhere, PM me. I would love to go to UF! Galoup11
Got a voice mail from the DGS today about acceptance to the Masters program, really kind and enthusiastic message. Will be calling back to talk to him more in the next couple days.
