LEAST favorite ice cream flavor?  Not sure I have one of those...I love all ice cream! :D If I had to pick one, though, I guess it'd have to be plain ol' vanilla, or heartburn-inducing chocolate & peanut-butter.

(Favorite ice cream flavors, however = Ben & Jerry's "Dublin Mudslide," and Haagen Dazs coffee or mint chocolate chip!)

Repeatedly refreshing my email again *sigh* It's going to be a long week.

Least favorite ice cream? Definitely mint chocolate chip. (I find chocolate and mint together to be an abomination. My friends don't mind since they get to steal my chocolate mints at restaurants :) )

And for sock color: Purple! I have a lucky pair of purple socks. (They are lucky because I got to meet my favorite tv actor while wearing them~)

My last favorite has to be chocolate. Can't stand chocolate ice cream! Or anything with maraschino cherries because I'm allergic.

My news: no news grad school wise. However, I am officially done with my last fall semester of undergraduate! I had a lovely exam on War and Society in History in a *freezing* Sports Cage where I swear there were prison guards stalking the aisles who wouldn't even let you have tissues! Fine then...I'll let the professors deal with the snot blobs on my blue book. *rolls eyes*

I'm going to Cardiff for a few days where the rift of time/space is. Anyone want me to try and fast forward say, a month, for everyone and put us out of our misery?

Hi, everyone! Another newbie here.

aaiiee: Yes, I applied to Duke.

annieca: Be careful around the rift! You never know what may show up through time and space. But as risky as it may be to play with time, I'm tempted to say yes.

Yes, PLEASE try to fast-forward us a month!! :) I'd be forever grateful to you for putting me out of my (waiting) misery.  Even if the time manipulation doesn't turn out, though, have a great time in Cardiff!  You deserve some fun after all your apps and exams!

What's going on in Harvard? It looks to me they started arranging interviews and I'm not on their list. Don't know if I should hate or love this results search page.

I wouldn't worry about it. It sounds like one POI wanted to chat with a potential applicant. This happened to me at one of my schools & I didn't post it on the results page as it was obviously just my POI's preference. Hang tight!

I just sent a second email to a university because their online app says they don't have my references. I know for a fact one of referees sent it over a week ago. The problem is that the contact listed isn't getting back to me to let me know and I have a professor from the school asking where my application is because he is interested!!

I wouldn't be so uptight about all of this if international students weren't required to have an offer prior to applying for funding/scholarships for which the deadlines are looming

Hm.. is this a British University? If it's an admissions contact, I'd be inclined to try to contact someone else in the office and explain why you need to know as quickly as possible. They tend to work in the same large offices, or at least on the same corridor, and from experience job-share. For example, at my school, if one person is unavailable another member of staff will step in and help.

I'm sure this won't happen, but it would be awful if a chance passed someone by just because of an administrative mistake.

Tell me about it. Well, I will sniff around and see if I can find someone else in the department.

Good luck! You'll be fine :) Congratulations on having a professor interested in your application - that's certainly positive!

I second the British hallway. They (admissions) can be quite snotty on the phone but the actual departments and their secretaries are the sweetest people I've met at my university and will literally move heaven and earth to help you!

Harvard doesn't have admissions interviews, so I'm not sure what that's about.

Do you know if Duke has interviews?

No, I don't think they do. They didn't mention it on the website and I don't remember seeing anyone say they interviewed there in last year's results.

hmm okay. I am just getting slightly worried...because a lot of my friends who have applied to Duke Anthropology and Art History departments have started receiving offer letters or invitations for campus visits. I was just wondering what the History department has been up to. Duke is in fact my top choice and it would completely crush me if I don't get through. :(
