I'll be applying next fall, so I'm just trying to get a feel for the types of students certain schools accept.

Please post your GPA, GRE scores, domestic or international, any other relevant info. Following this, please post the schools you initially applied to and then which schools you were accepted.... If you'd like, also share where you received offers for funding

It is entirely possible that individual departments will list their averages (of course this isn't of much help in determining spread). I would look at the Results Survey, and order by campus; you'll be able to see the spread of GPA/GRE that are given offers.

Thus far I have been accepted into UNC's MS program in Biostatistics.

I have a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from Duke, and my undergrad GPA was 3.66. My relevant grades were as follows:

Calc I: A

Calc II: A

Calc III: A

Linear Algebra: A

Probability: A

Statistics: A-

Intro Real Analysis: A

Since I worked for many years after graduation, I took one undergraduate and two graduate level statistics courses at NCSU for review and to boost my application. I received two A+'s and an A.

GRE: 168/164/4.0

Also, the biostatistics program at UNC is part of their school of public health, so I believe it may have helped my application that I have been an active volunteer and supporter of local community health initiatives.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

I commend your A game! Also, what did you work as after graduation?

For the first decade after college I worked in the computational geometry division of a computer graphics company. After that I did much less interesting consulting type work, so I look forward to being challenged again.

Hi Noco7,

I went to UMich and had a 3.75 GPA, with GRE's of 160/168/4.0. I got accepted into Georgetown, BU, and UMich so far, and am still waiting to hear back from some other places.
