curls215 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) I was offered a place for a DPhil within the Social Sciences division at Oxford U., and now I'm super-edgy waiting to find out the Clarendon results...has anyone gotten Clarendon funding at Oxford yet? If so, from which division? Barring that, is there anyone else in the same boat who wants to commiserate? Edited March 20, 2012 by ariell215
bddurham Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 got accepted to Oxford in the humanities, but i'm not sure about my Clarendon status. How do you know if you're being considered?
Ziz Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 They're normally pretty good about keeping this page up to date. You won't be informed if you don't get an award, but if it says on this page that successful applicants have been notified and you haven't, then you know you're out of luck: http://www.clarendon.ox.ac.uk/2012results/
lsh37421 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I was offered a place in Social Sciences (MSc). Waiting (like you) for Clarendon status updates.
curls215 Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 bddurham, you are definitely being considered. Technically, everyone who was offered a place by a department is in the running. Looks like about 30 per division will be offered; Math/Physical Sciences/Life Sciences is finished with their Clarendon offers, and they gave out 30. lsh37421, fingers crossed for both of us...we should know in a week or so!

Not that it'll help to do so until April 2nd...I'm sure that they won't finish early.

Thanks Curls215! I will def say an extra prayer for all of us. I know that the update page says that 4 social science Clarendons were given out in the first review cycle so it looks like the bulk of the awards will be announced by the April 2nd date. The wait is killing me! lol

Well now the updated page say "FROM April 3rd." I suspect we wont know for another week if they keep pushing the date on the website back.

You might be right. I would not be shocked if we didn't see a final result on that page for a few days yet. That said, the other departments have finished their selections, so tomorrow just might be the day... At this point I'll just be relieved to know either way, I think.
bddurham Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Okay, so now that the humanities letters have gone out, do the intended recipients also get emails, or just a letter?
lsh37421 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 From what I have heard they send an email notification. However, I don't know for sure. Okay, so now that the humanities letters have gone out, do the intended recipients also get emails, or just a letter?
helena29 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I got an offer for DPhil Geography and Environment ,I am also waiting for Clarendon results. Generally how long should the applicants wait starting from 3 April to hear from office ( in case they are successful to secure the fund). Fingers crossed

Fingers crossed You probably don't have to worry too much on that count. If you get one, you'll know by email, and they'll give you a reasonable amount of time to respond. Generally my understanding of this situation is that until you expressly give it up, it's yours once they've awarded it (of course, you lose it if you let your admission offer lapse). If you are so lucky as to get the Clarendon, then you need to attach the notice to your college Financial Guarantee form and send that to your college. Also be sure to confirm the offer from your department. Any other requirements to secure the funding will be clarified in the Clarendon letter (again, if you're lucky enough to get one, which I have not as yet). Any positive responses yet?

No, info till now , I guess we can all be hopeful. One never know when luck will walk through the door
uncgrad19 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I was just notified that I am a reserve candidate for the Clarendon in the Humanities. Does anyone know if reserve candidates are ever offered awards? Thanks!
