SingaporeGuy
how difficult is it usually to enter Toronto?
bernard
U Toronto is the toughest school to get into in Canada, especially so for CS. But Canadians are an exception! I read somewhere that U Toronto has about the same admit rate as UT Austin.
SingaporeGuy
oh i see, how about UBC and MCGILL?
bernard
No idea since I didn't apply there. Both have good CS department though.

kuntal
both of them seems like the slowest on the earth for processing admission documents

kuntal
ahh...actually i didn't really intend to go that far...but all those talks about economic crisis and predictions of massive cut off in the budget really shakes your confidence as an international applicant. end of the day i found out somehow i just kept adding new schools on the list! SingaporeGuy
yes, with tuition waiver and funding! but they require me to reply by 2nd march, what should i do? i think some US schools are still giving out letters after march
kuntal
hey..congrats. march 2nd seems like a confusing deadline. even other Canadian schools are less likely to come up with a decision by that time. did you contact them?
SingaporeGuy
hey i was accepted into UBC master in CS today. which is a better school for graduate studies? mcgill or ubc? which is a better field for AI/machine learning?
husky07
Congrats, I think UBC has a stronger CS department, and the weather is MUCH better in Vancouver. I saw some ranking of the CS departments in Canada and I think the only university that beats UBC, when it comes to research, is U of Toronto.
