jonas Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I saw few acceptances on the main page but I think they did not announce all of them yet, any insider info? Thanks.
MaximKat Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I have received the letter from the department approx. two weeks ago. They said that they have recommended me for admission and that I will receive official letter from graduate school in two weeks. Status at applyyourself is "Recommended by Program; processing at the Graduate School". No news on funding and no insider info
Coffstah Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Quite a while ago I got my acceptance, along with funding info, a professor has also been in contact with me and we discussed research interests on the phone. I'm going to visit the school on the weekend of March 6th.
gatech Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Same for me "Recommended by Program; processing at the Graduate School". No news of funding.
SingaporeGuy Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 i cant go purdue without funding! did you get into other schools?

I'm going to visit the school on the weekend of March 6th. its good that purdue sorted things out with you quite early. its really boring to stuck out with "Recommended for admission". did you receive your acceptance mail right aways or you too had a recommendation mail previously? and if possible share your profile with us.
jonas Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 Thanks for all information. My status on applyyourself is still "Under Review", does this mean I am being waitlisted?
inactive_since_inf Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Nopes, it means, they are yet to decide on your application.

A professor contacted me via email directly and we set up a phone meeting to discuss research interests. While I was waiting for this the school contacted me with a formal offer of 4 years guaranteed funding. As for my profile, my field of interest is computer graphics, I have a 3.94 GPA and an undergrad degree in computer engineering from an average university. I have a second author publication, and my GRE scores were 780Q/460V, however this didn't matter for Purdue since they don't take GREs.

MaximKat Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Just received a final approval from graduate school, but nothing about funding
inactive_since_inf Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Just received a final approval from graduate school, but nothing about funding Good to know you got in!
MaximKat Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I asked about funding and they said that the budget should be finalized about mid-March, but some profs might contact me with RA propositions before that.
SingaporeGuy Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 so does that mean that some people will not get any funding at all?
inactive_since_inf Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Probably the less lucky ones will get some form of TA assistance/tuition waiver.
MaximKat Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 They have never told otherwise. Read here: http://www.cs.purdue.edu/academic_progr ... dex.sxhtml In the fall of 2008, approximately 72% of all CS graduate students received some form of support from the CS department: approximately 7% fellowships, 35% research assistantships, 30% teaching assistantships. About 7% received support from other Purdue entities.
SingaporeGuy Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 hi, i was offered an admission to purdue, but the central graduate school had not gotten back to me yet. anyone knows why is it so slow?
gatech Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Yesterday, I got official offer from grad office with details of funding. Actually just before that a prof contacted and told me that he is offering RA under him.
jonas Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 still no word from Purdue for me, appyyourself still shows "Under Review", what should I do? (my subfield is Data Mining btw)
