hupr Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 So House Republicans (and 5 Democrats) in all their infinite wisdom, passed an amendment to cut political science from NSF funding: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:hz1094: Here's a breakdown of the vote: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2012/roll243.xml
Max Power Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Oh and they also voted to get rid of the American Community Survey http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d112:3:./temp/~bdIU1w::|/home/LegislativeData.php?n=BSS;c=112| http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2012/roll232.xml
Zahar Berkut Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Awful. Is there a site that records some of the debate? I'd like to know if the objection is to the notion of a science of politics itself, to a perceived domination of liberal professors in polisci departments, both, neither, or whatever else.

grantman Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Well I have already wrote my congressman about this issue, I recommend that those who are U.S. nationals to do the same. While I will never have the privilege to complete use NSF funding I hope you all will have the opportunity to do so. blaspheming, justanotherperson, Zahar Berkut and 1 other 4
