psychmeout Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 What are the best Ph.D programs in clinical psychology that have a psychodynamic bias?
PsychGirl1 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I'm not sure- but I've heard NYC is very psychodynamically focused, so you could definitely start there. Also, I think the Clinical Psych Grad Programs book that everyone has breaks down faculty interest/background by %, and I remember psychodynamic being one of the options (ex. 10% psychodynamic, 80% CBT, etc.). While it might be a more manual process than hearing through the grapevine, it might be worth a few hours to go through and highlight some potential programs.
PsychGirl1 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (NYC as in, most of the schools in the area)
lewin Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 The New York Psychoanalytic Institute is the place to be. But you need an MD or PhD first. Psychoanalysis! The only profession where 40 years old is young. carlyhylton 1

lewin Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 ^^Should have said this originally, but I cribbed that sentiment from Janice Malcolm's "The Impossible Profession", a must-read for the psychoanalytically inclined.
