cadences Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Hi All, Just a quick question that I was hoping some of you could help me with: in terms of graduate Biblical Studies, is Notre Dame better for Hebrew Bible or for New Testament? Any feedback from current/recent Notre Dame PhD students would be especially welcome! Cheers, cadences
boywholived Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I don't have first hand knowledge of their programs, but just had a similar conversation with my advisor - who is a very well known HB scholar. ND's HB program has taken a hit with retiring faculty, though it's still strong and carries the weight of the ND brand. I can't speak to their NT program.

11Q13 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 ND doesn't have Hebrew Bible or New Testament per se. They've adopted the (superior) diachronic model of Christianity and Judaism in Antiquity. Who has retired jobsessed? I'd say ND has one of the strongest faculties there is if you aren't dead set on dividing them into NT vs OT/HB sacklunch 1

I had the exact same conversation with a doctoral student from ND at their SBL reception last weekend. sacklunch 1
