confused_soul Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I was in conversation with a Prof even before the application process through emails and phone. But so far, I havent heard yet anything from the university. Do you think it is ok to drop an email to the prof asking for a status update
UnlikelyGrad Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Unless he's on the admissions committee, he may not know...
abolitionista Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I think it's okay. I've been in communication with a professor in a similar way and he's not on the ad comm but he checked in on the status for me. It wont hurt to ask.
map Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 What about contacting a professor for the first time now? I've met her before (3 years ago) so she wouldn't remember me but I mentioned her in my statement. There are others who I don't know but did mention in my statement as being inspirational to me etc. I have something specific to mention about their work that is important to me but is it too late to cold-contact them now?
meankney Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I contacted two of the professors I talked to during the admissions process yesterday and heard positive things from both of them. I even got invited to visit Stanford!
