Hi, if there are any applicants to the harvard biostats program this season I think it would be helpful for everyone if we update eachother here if/when we receive an interview invite.

I believe from talking to people from last application cycle that the interviews should go out sometime around now so let's help each other out!

In previous years, Harvard invited a batch of applicants to their recruiting event (which has already happened this year), and then made some very late offers (to people who were not invited) in the first two weeks of April. So, not getting an invite to the recruiting event doesn't necessarily mean you've been rejected; you could just be on the waitlist.

Earlier than April? Not necessarily; some people on the waitlist also get rejected late in the game.

I got a mail from Harvard regarding an interview...they informed me the interview would take place on 19th of Feb. It seemed from the mail they sent, it would be just an informal chat with one of the faculty members, for around 30-45 mins.

I heard from Harvard 3-4 days back. They fixed a date for an interview over phone on 19th Feb. Yes, I am an international student.

internationals are on a different schedule.

rob1234, do you mind sharing your profile (via PM if you want)

There is someone who got accepted to Harvard Biostats by Postal mail. While looking through previous years results, I observed that all rejects were postal while the admits were by email. I was just curious to know if admits were also sent by postal mail?

Thanks. Best of luck on the interview! And do tell us if you hear anything worth sharing for those anxiously waiting.

Been hearing there's a lot of fake postings recently on the results survey. Highly doubt Harvard would choose just one person to be admitted via postal mail, and admit everyone else via email.

I think there were at least two obvious fake postings last month (someone claiming to have UW and JHU Biostat acceptances via postal mail with nonstellar stats and bragging about connections).

My understanding is that they typically bring in about 20-25 students for the visit day, accept most of them, and make up any shortfall at the end with a handful of late admits.

Thanks cyberwulf--does this include international students? I think you mentioned before that international students are typically on a different schedule.

Yes, international students apart from Canadians don't typically attend the recruiting/interview day. It would appear that there are probably 5-10 international admits in any given year, spread out from January to April.
