When everyone seems to have heard back but you...

So I will admit I have an addiction to the results search. For one of my programs it seems some people were accepted by phone with official letters to come on Jan. 24th. For others, they were rejected in a mass email on the 30th. Where does this leave me? I still haven't heard anything back and I had emailed the student affairs office on Wed. and they told me acceptances/rejections were going out in the next couple of days and I should know by the end of the week. In my mind, the week is over!

 

Has anyone else been in this situation? How did it turn out? Any thoughts?

I'm sorry to hear that! Though it is good to know I'm not alone!! Hopefully we will have some news soon.

 

And @xdarthveganx I have thought about the possibility of a waitlist... Do they have to inform you if you are put on a waitlist?

I know in Sociology some schools notify and some schools don't. People have not heard anything for a while and then gotten a late acceptance.

At least you got interviews. I haven't heard back from all but one school. I've heard some I applied to don't interview or probably have not sent out interview invites yet, but both I can't confirm and seem odd to me. Haven't found some of my specific programs in the results list (but also haven't searched it really well yet). I'm starting to worry about irrational stuff like I mistyped all but one application's phone # and email address....or that my spam filter caught the emails, but they're not showing up in the spam folder/were automatically deleted even though gmail doesn't delete spam for a month. I think I'm starting to lose it. In conclusion.....remember....it could be worse. For you, it's me. For me, I guess it's the people who have been notified they've been rejected or wait listed. Most positive thought I can muster these days... "At least I don't know for certain I didn't get in". :/

If both rejections and acceptances been sent then you are on an unofficial wait list.

Rinse, if it makes you feel any better I applied to five Cognitive Science programs (though they all have various names) and haven't heard a peep from any of them. Online apps are still maintaining status points that don't indicate any decisions having been made.

 

I've been going through all the same worries you have, too. But those things are side effects of the awful waiting. Try not to grant yourself the liberty to play what if right now.

Thanks! And, yeah, I've noticed other psychology departments on the results page, but not my specific depts. That's where the madness originates. Like what anthropologygeek posted, convention points to unofficial wait list, but with the lack of solid information I just don't know. My only way of coping is complaining on here...far from where anyone potentially reviewing my apps can actually identify me and make judgements about my character. And I vow to anonymously complain and whine until I receive solid information.
