inplaceofsomeone Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Hey guys, Since grad students don't really get spring breaks lol, are you doing anything particularly interesting for your last one in college? =)
belowthree Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I haven't taken a spring break yet and it doesn't look like I intend to this year either. For quite a few years now breaks just mean I don't have classes and most of the undergrads go away. Campus is quiet, it's nice. The downside of getting involved in research as an undergrad: you start turning into a grad student early.

For my spring break I will alternately put the finishing touches on my senior thesis and enjoy the empty town. I plan to finish reading for pleasure ( ) because I started Little Women during Christmas break but never got to finish it and...yeah...been kind of busy. I also may read a little Henry James or maybe Anne of Green Gables. And I need to watch some movies. Gone With the Wind and Funny Girl are very high on that list. "You think beautiful girls are going to be in forever? One day they'll be finished! Then it'll be my turn!"
jschroed Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Ditto! I'm visiting UVA and hurrying to meet my senior hons thesis deadline. Hopefully enjoying my last few months in Boston too!
GirlattheHelm Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I might sleep through it. Hibernation sounds easier than doing anything...
boneh3ad Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I will be flying around the country visiting as many schools as I can fit that I have gotten into.
psycholinguist Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I arranged to visit UCSD over my break. Meaning that I'm flying to California, spending half a day there, and then pretty much lying on the beach for most of the rest of the week. I haven't been to California in more than three years, and I've never gone to a warm place for my spring-break before, so it's about time in more ways than one! (Of course, then I'm going to come a couple of days before classes restart, so I can cram for midterms and work on the thesis a bit more. Ah well. That's what I get for being an undergrad.)
girlfromcountyhell Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I'm going home to die for awhile...I've had 4 visits in 3 weeks, so I am exhausted! It will be a welcome break.
jesso21 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I've never done the Spring Break WOOOOHOOO thing before, and I'm not going to do it this year either. I will be visiting 2 schools though. So it's going to be a roadtrip with a purpose.
dpileofashes Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 i tried to go 'balls to the wall' for my last spring break- going back to europe to visit friends from my study abroad last year...it sucked- I spent $1500 obscene dollars to sleep, watch tv and pick up smoking after a 6 month hiatus...but i can't wait until grad school!
