The directors of a program I was admitted to notified me that they will nominate me for a fellowship. My official letter of acceptance just has the standard award package on it, I got this letter just a day after I got the email about acceptance/fellowship nomination. I was wondering if these "extra" fellowships take longer, or if I will not be getting it. Unfortunately, money will definitely be a factor when deciding where to attend (if I get more admits, that is). Anyone else in the same boat?

I got my letter with the standard funding package as well, but was nominated for a fellowship.  They said I probably won't hear news about the fellowship decisions until March, so until then I just have to wait.  You could try ask when to expect to hear about the fellowship, I think usually the results come before April 15, so you'll have time to decide.

Fellowship news won't come until late March or early April because, in all likelihood, it's a university-wide competition to which departments nominate some applicants. That means that because of bureaucracy decisions take a while to come out.

Hmm interesting, seems I'll be waiting until April 15th then. Thats unfortunate because I'd like to accept an offer ASAP to begin planning/let people on waitlists have a chance.

Just got an email saying I've been nominated for a fellowship at a school where I'm going to the interview next weekend. I haven't been accepted yet though, kind of odd (but hopefully a good sign?!)

I just received an email from a department I applied to with a fellowship offer when they accepted me a few weeks ago.

Does anyone know about all the funding that can be awarded to applicant? and the procedure to acquire it? (RA/TA/Fellowship, etc.)

For example: RA is from the POI, which we have to contact the faculty...

What is the common way for the application to have fund? Is it fellowship, or TA?

Fellowships are only for a small select few students.  They are not a means to fund students, but rather to be an incentive for the student to join the university.

Typical funding comes from TA/RA funds.

By the by ideally universities want you to have your own funding (SSHRC, NSERC, etc).
