CP3 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I just thought of something: Do any schools notify applicants about admissions decisions based on where their last name falls in the alphabet. For example, I know someone who was accepted and their last name begins with a letter at the beginning of the alphabet. I haven't heard anything yet and my name lands somewhere in the middle. So, these "A"s are rejections, this A is an acceptance, then eventually they make their way down the list, D-G, H-L, etc etc. This is probably just another crazy conspiracy theory, but it might make sense for schools that are large and receive huge amounts of applications. Just curious..... uromastyx 1
God0PlayDice Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I think all schools notify applicants about admissions decisions based on the qualifications of the applicants. Obviously, schools will hit the best guy up first and the worst guy last (if it is the case, sometimes they don't even bother to let the rejected application know.) your example maybe just a coincidence.
Vincenzo Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 The rule is, by convention, that they notify in whatever order puts me last. Way last. Laster than the last one after the lastest to be receiving of notifications. And don't worry, me is you too. Too. Too... Hi! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get back to the conversation I was having with the wall. Ok, and the door. The door too. Too. Sometimes it chimes in. And that's ok. We're ok. Everything's ok. [twitch] ... .. .what? /shrug Usmivka and VBD 2

And I think that schools, as God0PlayDice said, notify based on the strengths of their applicants -- but since you brought it up, I'm glad I'm a C... HigherEd2013 and Vincenzo 2
scofield24 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 probably not. i think if you are getting funding, you will know before march. if you don't hear untill march 15, chances are it's not good since deadline is april 15th.
