superpug13 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Anyone else waiting to hear back about DrPH programs? Post back! I applied to UC Berkeley, UCLA Community Health Sciences, and UH Manoa Community-Based and Translational Research. Heard back from UCLA last Thursday Feb 21. Got an email telling me to check the website for the decision, and I got in! They said they won't be mailing out paper letters, and that all correspondence will happen via email. Admitted students day is on March 18. Still waiting to hear back from UC Berkeley and UH. I emailed them asking them when they estimate to have their decisions made, and they said they'd get back to me next week. Good luck everyone!
aapril Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Congrats on UCLA! I've applied to: DrPH @ Columbia - Epi DPH @ CUNY - Epi PhD @ Rutgers/UMDNJ - Health Education and Behavioral Science Hope to hear something within the next 2-3 weeks (or sooner!!). Good luck~!
epidemiwhat Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I applied to Berkeley Dr.PH, and I emailed them last week. They said decisions will be sent out around March 1. Congrats on UCLA, superpug! I got my MPH in Community Health Sciences from there and loved it.
superpug13 Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) Heard back from University of Hawaii at Manoa today (Community-Based and Translational Research DrPH program) via email. I was wait listed. They said they are limiting admission to 4 applicants per year. Also, as for UCLA's Community Health Sciences department, I asked them about their admissions process for doctoral programs in Community Health Sciences this year (both PhD and DrPH). They said: "We received 64 applications, 16 for the DrPH program. 10 were admitted, 3 for the DrPH program. We hope to matriculate 6-7 students in the Fall." Additionally, I heard that someone was accepted to the DrPH program at Berkeley last Monday. I followed up with the coordinator that day, and she said: "We are finalizing out admission process and you should know within 2 weeks." Anyone else heard back? wtng Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (Thank you superpug for your summary, and congrats on getting into UCLA!) Is anybody else still waiting to hear from UC Berkeley? I thought we'd all find out by now, but I haven't received any news of either acceptance or rejection. If you heard back, could you say how and when you were notified? Thank you!!
upatthestars Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I heard back from UC Berkeley on March 1 by e-mail from the program I applied to. I got another follow up message from the Grad Division (which I'm guessing is the "Official" Notification) the following week. I would suggest getting in touch with them. I had an e-mail mix up with one of the schools I applied to (UCLA) where they apparently sent the message to my e-mail and I never received it. Maybe something similar happened with you?
aapril Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Heard back from Columbia today via email. I'm in for DrPH in Epidemiology I actually received an email from Financial Aid congratulating me hours before I received official notification from the school. How backwards! No word on funding yet (fingers crossed).
epidemiwhat Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I applied to Berkeley DrPH-- no word yet. Very annoying....
abe14 Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 GWU DrPH, Health Policy - Rejected 3/12/2014 BU DrPH - No word yet
jumpthruahoop Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I applied to UC Berkeley, too. Still haven't heard. Not sure what is taking them so long! Anyone have any clue when we might find out?
epidemiwhat Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 On March 11 I emailed Berkeley about my DrPH decision status, and they responded saying I would know "within 2 weeks".
jumpthruahoop Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks for the info, @epidemiwhat! Good luck!
EOH_2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Has anyone heard from the following programs: Johns Hopkins DrPH EHS, Columbia DrPH EHS, UIC DrPH (online, interdisciplinary)?
long_wait Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 What do you guys think about the DrPH offered by Harvard vs. other schools?
soylatte5 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 anyone know whether DrPH programs usually get funding (tuition/stipend/health insurance) like in the PhD programs? if not, what are your plans for funding your education?
classicrokr Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 @ EOH_2014 - I know several people have been rejected by UIC DrPH (online) program and they found out over the last couple of weeks when the online status page showed "Deny". I am waiting to hear on that one as well and emailed them this morning to ask about a timeline. Also waiting to hear about UNC DrPH online program.
jumpthruahoop Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Still no word from UC Berkeley, anyone? jumpthruahoop 1
ohnana Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 For those waiting on berkley, you might as well email them. They obviously are not responsible enough to contact applicants themselves. I had to email them before they sent me an email directing me to a link where I found out I was not accepted...Why did I have to wait so long AND email them?
epidemiwhat Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I also emailed them and finally got my rejection. The waiting for the past month made it even worse. Don't know why they had to put us through this.
ohnana Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 @epidemiwhat, I agree. Why the long miserabe wait?
