BostonTeach Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Does anyone have any information about when NU will be sending out their decisions? I know their application deadline was later than most (2/15) and I heard that admissions looks at the accelerated students first (5th year UG students.) I am anxiously awaiting their decision and would love any feedback you have! Thanks!
SLPks Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 According to last year they posted decisions on their website around the 15th I believe. I'm not sure if they will do the same this year.
BostonTeach Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Thanks! That's what I was thining too. Good luck to you, too!
TalkItOut_9 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I checked the application portal where I submitted my app and there was a decision link at the bottom. I'm not sure if they've notified everyone yet--but it's worth a look!
NUslp Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I called the graduate admissions office the other day. The woman who I talked to at Bouve mentioned it could be as late as April 15th that we hear anything :-/
NUslp Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Anyone else having issues with the N-You portal? Mine says an admissions decision is ready, but there's nothing there... For those accepted already, where exactly is the decision for you guys on the page?
SLPks Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Mine still just says Application is Complete so I'm not sure. The decision is usually a link on the bottom though to a letter.
SLP2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Mine was uploaded on Friday, on the bottom of the apply yourself webpage once you log in there was a bold sentence saying "Decision Status: Available beginning 3/8/2013". Then there's a link below that says your application decision is now available online which takes you to a letter... Good look all!
NUslp Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thanks for the info SLP2013! I don't have that section still. Maybe it will show up tonight or tomorrow. The Bouve admissions office said my decision was being mailed out today (after I was told the results can't be given over the phone) so hopefully it won't be too long before I get the result either way. Good luck to those who haven't heard and congrats to those who have
SLPks Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Who did you call? I was thinking of emailing the woman who told me my application was complete, Illira. Thanks.
BostonTeach Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 Here's a question, to those of you who have been accepted, are any of you in NU's undergrad program? I heard that the accelerated students are notified first. Just curious. Congrats to those of you who have been accepted! : )
SLP2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I'm not an NU undergrad. However, I did submit my application really really early
NUslp Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I just called the Bouve graduate admissions office, which is 617-373-2708. I'm surprised there's a result for mine already, since I submitted it relatively late. When I called I didn't really get any info as the first time I called they just said I would have a decision before April 15th, and then I called today when it said a decision was ready, but there wasn't a decision on my N-You portal. I guess admission decisions are sent out the same day your portal has been updated to "my decision is ready". I was an NU undergrad, but not within the program so I don't know too much about how the process works, BUT I think they apply early. Not 100% but I feel like when my friend applied a few years back she knew that she got in by February or something and didn't have to submit any other apps. I hear it's super competitive/selective for the accelerated program though...
SLPks Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Thanks for the info. Good luck to everyone and congrats to those who already know!
BostonTeach Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 Thanks for the information! Good luck to everyone with their decisions. : )
BostonTeach Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 Hmmm. Logged onto ApplyYourself and my app still says, "complete" but now it says they haven't received anything from me. I wonder if that means I'm getting a decision soon? Also, it says my app was submitted on 9/3/2010! Ha!
NUslp Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Still waiting for my admissions decision. This is torture! I wish it would just be posted. I'd rather my decision not be ready, than it being decided already and me not being able to see it!
NUslp Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I got in! Apparently my admissions decision was located in my application itself and not in the N-You portal. Good luck to everyone
SLP1990 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I got in! Apparently my admissions decision was located in my application itself and not in the N-You portal. Good luck to everyone Congrats! Still waiting :/ my ApplyYourself portal says that my application is complete but it hasn't changed to "under review" or anything like that. Is that normal?
SLPks Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Mine hasn't either if it makes you feel any better. I'm expecting a rejection anyway but it would just be nice to know.
BostonTeach Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 I'm still waiting as well. No change in my status. Not sure what to make of that! I have a 3.8 undergrad; 3.9 in grad (Master's in Curriculum & Instruction/Elementary Ed from BC); waived GREs because they were required with my M.Ed; 4.0 in prereqs...4/5 were taken at NU. Hmmm. Maybe they just don't think I'm a good fit for their program? I'm going to be so disappointed if I don't get in! : (
NUslp Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 When I called last week they said they'd be making decisions through April 15th. Don't lose hope yet! Plus it looks like NU sends out a lot of offers (134 last year) according to ASHA's EdFind and if the results search is any indication they haven't sent many out yet!
