cerise Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Does anyone have any info about when we'll hear from them, and, more importantly, what their reputation is for funding? General thoughts about the program? Consider this a break from the HKS/WWS/GSPP discussions...
ebee Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16136 Looks like it might be at least another week or so
hope4ful Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I wish I could address your questions, but I thought I would reply anyway to show that there are other people on this forum interested in Evans. I can tell you that their Admitted Student Open House will be on April 6 and 7th. For us out-of-state applicants (I used to live in Seattle but now on the other coast), that doesn't leave much time.
cerise Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 So I called, because I'm impatient, and they were just as vague with me as with whoever posted that note on the results forum..."within a couple of weeks." But they did say that funding info will be sent at the same time as admissions offers, which is nice. Also, they said that they'll be notifying by mail, which is not so nice-- especially for us East Coast folk! The guy didn't sound totally sure about it though, so maybe there's still hope for a quicker decision. This is the last school that I'm waiting to hear from-- I just want to know what my options are.
ebee Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Judging from the results page (if history repeats itself) this week will be the week for Evans School notifications....
ManleyQ Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 rite, I sent an email to ask about the app process, a person from admissions replied saying , I quote here ' Thank you for applying to the Evans School of Public Affairs. Decisions will be sent within the next two weeks. Regards...' Why it is taking ages I wonder?
ebee Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Good gawwwwwwwwwwwwwd it can't be THAT hard of a decision for them.
cerise Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 I know their apps are up, but it's just hard...I want to start making plans. In my mind, I'm getting more and more committed to the idea of spending the next couple of years in Ann Arbor. The nice thing is that they'll send funding info at the same time, so that helps. But I seriously hope it happens this week.
nab190 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Ugh...its been two months since apps were due!! I still need to hear back from UW and Oregon State before I make a decision.
ebee Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Yea the more UW makes me wait, the more Minnesota appeals to me. The only consolation is that they send everything at once. I am pretty tired of having no idea where I will be living next year though.
ebee Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 grrrrrrrr Please excuse me while I express my frustration with UW's radio silence!!!
cerise Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 Seriously. This is ridiculous. Thank God for March Madness of a different kind--it's giving me something else to check obsessively!
cerise Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 This is my latest obsession. Don't judge. http://files.kavefish.com/pictures/collections/bunny_suicide/_index-list.html Well, fine, judge. I'll just be in the corner, giggling about bunnies. THAT IS WHAT THIS PROCESS HAS DONE TO ME.
Leo Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I take comfort in the fact that I live in Seattle, at least the letter won't have far to go. It's taking all of my willpower to not march on down to UW and start investigating though.

seattlegirl Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Evans has FINALLY started notifying! I got my admittance letter today. Nearly had a heart attack because it was a one page letter that came in a standard sized envelope and I thought I had been rejected. Letter dated 3/20. I currently live in Seattle so the letter didn't have far to go. No mention of funding yet, but the letter says that the formal admittance packet should be coming from the graduate school soon. Slightly annoying because I was expecting funding info to come at the same time as the offer of admission given that it's taken them FOREVER to notify. Open House is April 6 or 7th.
nab190 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hmm...I'm in PA, so I probably won't hear until Tuesday? Well, at least I have some idea...

OMG I might die waiting until next week. I'm at the point where I think I'll cry if I don't get in edit: Congrats seattlegirl!!
Leo Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 It figures that my letter would not arrive today, despite living 10 minutes from UW. I saw another post that mentioned an email notification, I wonder why they would email some and not others.
cerise Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 I just got a phone call! Seems like they're all over the place with their notifications-- phone, email, and postal service. And with that, I'm done waiting-- and on to decision time! Anyone going to the admitted students weekend?
