Hi all;

My "official letter" of acceptance into the PhD arrived in the mail today. It's dated March 15th on the letter and was posted on the 19th.

I have 3 weeks to respond. I will accept OISE's offer.

Good luck.

I received a letter today: wait list :( My first option is SLE and second CTL. Does anyone have any idea if I have good chances of getting in? Should I contact anyone and ask?

Thanks!

I've already accepted OISE's offer of admission. But this came today, so there may be hope for people on the waiting list. It seems like they're still reaching out to "applicants."  Good luck.

Dear applicant,

Thank you for your application to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree program in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). As an applicant, we wanted to invite you to the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Meet & Greet and Research Showcase that is scheduled for April 10th, 2013.  Attend our Research Showcase and speak with faculty members and students about ongoing research in CTL. Afterwards, you’re invited to meet with our current students to discover more about the program.  The Research Showcase is scheduled from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the OISE Library on the ground floor (252 Bloor Street West).  This will be followed by a brief presentation before meeting with our students from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We would also encourage you to bring any questions that you might have about our program or department.    If you are interested in attending this event, please RSVP to ctlrsvp@utoronto.caby Thursday, April 4th, 2013.

We hope that you will be able to join us on April 10th, 2013 and we look forward to meeting you,

Hi, isn't SLE a department within CTL? For example I'm in CTSD which is part of CTL. I spoke to a prof in CTL and she said that about 20% of OISE's first round offers are turned down by PhD applicants. So I bet you have a good chance of getting in! You might just have to wait a few weeks before finding out.

Best wishes.

Hi All;

A mass email came today from OISE/SGS. I hope this helps anyone who's still waiting. Check your SPAM folder. Good luck.

By now, you should have received a letter of offer from University of Toronto’s School of Graduate Studies. We hope that you are taking our offer very seriously. Acceptance into Canada’s preeminent grad school is an achievement in itself.  We chose you because you're at the top of our list. And we believe you applied to U of T because we're at the top of yours!
Not only does the U of T Grad School offer world-renowned research and scholarship, it offers scope. At Canada’s largest university – in Canada’s largest city – anything is possible. Whatever your focus, academic or otherwise, you’ll find your niche at the University of Toronto. Our departments are welcoming and our connections vast, so you’ll experience big-city opportunities with a small-community feel.

You need to see for yourself, of course. So check the Gallery which hosts 50 videos about life at UofT and hear from current students, faculty and staff members. You can also check the Grad School website to read what current U of T graduate students say about their programs across the university.  If you’d like to talk further about all the possibilities for your success here, e-mail us. If you have not yet received your letter of offer, it should be arriving soon. When it arrives, please feel free to discuss any details with the program offering you admission. Good luck with your decision process. We hope to see you here soon!

Hi everyone!

I just got an acceptance letter for the MT program. However, on ROSI it still says "financially cancelled." I'm so confused as to what this means.. I'm still accepted right? :unsure:

Thanks!

MattieSed,

If you recieved an acceptance from the university on letterhead then you are 100% accepted. I'm an MT grad and ROSI didn't even have me enrolled when the school year started so don't sweat it. Congrats! I suggest taking a summer elective (you will have to do one between 1st and 2nd year) called "Cultural Studies in Ed" with Beverly Jean Daniels (if offered) she blew my mind.

What department? I can shed some light on CSTD waitlist if thats what you applied to.

After looking at forums, it seems like OISE and many universities (even my own one in Europe) usually take their Master degree alumni to the Ph.D. programme. If all universities value the same practice, what should I do and where should I go for my Ph.D.? The letter was sent to me since April 21, 2013. I may receive it shortly. Hope it will be a good news. However, I finished my Master degree from Europe, not Canada and OISE. I don't know how much chance I will be accepted. Moreover, it is likely that if I received the letter of notifications late, I might be rejected. (Although the professor said that hear nothing means nothing other than that the letter has not yet arrived. OISE and the department I applied for no longer send emails and telephone calls because of miscommunication in the past). The Ph.D. hunting game drives me crazy, especially when I applied for only OISE. Ten more universities may needed.

I'm almost sure no one is following this thread anymore but I will post anyway. CSTD has finally gone to wait list and is making second round offers. Fortunately I was offered a spot to pursue my PhD full time/funding. Good luck to all others waiting and hoping.
