Hi, everyone.

Anyone out there going to Cornell this Fall? I'm surprised no one started a thread for Cornell yet.

I'm going to Cornell for my MEng in ORIE.

I'm an international student, so I'm also looking for other incoming international students to discuss plans for the upcoming months. Looking for housing from afar is so difficult!

Hi,

I am! PhD in mechanical engineering, starting this fall. I'm a domestic student, but I've been living in Vancouver, Canada the past few years for my undergrad, so I definitely agree on the difficulty of finding housing while not in Ithaca! If anyone wants to look for a place with me (criterion: be very clean, preferably also female although it doesn't really matter), let me know and we could look together? :)

I'm looking forward to picking up cross country skiing...

I am also going to Cornell this fall. I wonder how the netID works? I accepted my offer online but haven't heard anything for a week. This really makes me feel paranoid...

PhD Mech Eng. starting 2013 too :)

May I ask why everyone seems to simply disregard the possibility of staying at university-managed accommodation? Too few units available? Less than ideal condition? I haven't received my netID so wouldn't know anything more than what's shown on the brochures..

Don't worry. I accepted my offer about three weeks ago and just received my netID. There's a great introduction page which gets you started. Very professional and the system is easy to use..

Hi all,

Congratulations on your acceptance! I'm an incoming PhD student in Geosciences. I found a place already but I was wondering if anyone from the south needs a ride in August? I'm driving up from Miami around August 9th, date still TBD as I am graduating earlier that week. Also, if you haven't found a place yet, get on it ASAP. I had to plan ahead because I have a small dog and a lot of places weren't pet-friendly. Even in early March, apartments were going like hot cakes.

For anybody who is looking, these companies were the best to work with during my housing hunt:

http://www.travishyde.com/ --> Karen is really nice and quick to get back to you

http://ppmhomes.com/

http://www.perfect-heritage.com/index.php

And a couple current students told me to stay away from these people:

Good luck. I don't know many people up there so if you'd like to grab a beer once we're up there, feel free to message me.

I did apply for university housing, as it seems really comparable in price and everything to the surrounding area, but it seems like current students get priority over new ones.

It's definitely not bad, but what really gets me is that the university housing requiring 12-month leases starts in July. University housing also tends to not be a great value, you sacrifice bang for your buck for convenience.

Also, incoming PhD OR and hoping to look for housing with a roommate :). Only thing I'm insisting on is be clean, especially in the kitchen.

Hi, sorry I'm late to the thread.

I'll be attending Cornell in the fall for Masters of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering.

Just a quick question, has anyone received any information about the upcoming year? Like tuition payment plans, financial aid, important dates etc.?

I received a couple of general e-mails about securing loans and completing my medical paperwork. Did you fill out the info in order to obtain your Cornell ID and set up your e-mail account? I had to go back to the application page a few days after I accepted the offer in order to fill out the IT stuff.

I never received general e-mails about securing loans or completing my medical paperwork. I really hope it didn't get into my spam folder because it delets anything older than 30 days. Also, I e-mailed the graduate field assistant for my major and she never responded to any of my e-mails or phone calls.

Edit: I finally got a hold of her, looks like everything is sorted out. Thanks for your help though!.

Hi, everyone! I will be attending Cornell this fall for my masters in Applied Statistics (MPS) :) Has anyone received their on campus housing assignment?

Also, do you know when we register for classes?

Hello everyone! I was recently accepted to Cornell's PhD program in Government. Still waiting for a few other schools to announce their decisions, but I'll most likely be taking this one.

Someone mentioned earlier that the 12 month lease on student apartments begins in July. Does anyone know if funding packages will have begun by that time? I was assuming they would start in August, which may make it difficult for me to pay the initial deposit, or that month's rent.

Edit: Ooooh, I'm "Caffeinated" now!
