If we hear today, what time of day is it usually? It seems like random times of day. For some reason I had assumed it would be late afternoon (around 5)

It is random. Even people applying from the same country might hear back at different times.

Has anyone contacted IIE to see when Germany ETA decisions will be released?

Also, not directly related, but for candidates who also applied to the USTA program, have you thought about what you would do if you are awarded both? I've been thinking about that dream scenario for awhile, but I don't know which one I would choose! I think I lean slightly towards USTA since there is the opportunity to extend the program to two years, but I don't know if it is foolish to give up the official Fulbright grant since I want to go into academia and Germany is such a bigger force in politics/economics/education.

Are rejections sent out at the same time as acceptances, or are they staggered?

Applicant to Norway, still haven't heard.

Not sure. I know Neurona and I both got our emails from France at 4:36, but we were different statuses (P and A).

This is maddening >.<

Do we know what time German Fulbright sends out there notices in the past? If it is from Bonn (German Fulbright office), then it would presumably earlier in the day wouldn't it? And if so, then hasn't that time passed?

They send them from the German office? i thought it went American office --> German office --> back to American office for final approval.

this is stressing me so much because I have a lot of pressure to make a decision about my PhD funding *weeps* I just need to knowwww!!!

I think we'll get our emails from IIE, and they run on Eastern Standard Time.

Lalakey: Yeah I know, the longer I wait for the results the more paranoid I become about my statement. According to the spreadsheet Spain finds out in the week of April 14-15th so I still got some time till I hear but still, I'm just biting my nails in the meantime.

ginagoestokorea:Yay!!! Another Gilman alumna!Same here, without the Gilman I wouldn't have gone to Tokyo at all which is the reason why I was extremely grateful for the scholarships. It helped me out heaps! I was actually surprised I got it because I literally clicked on the "submit" button MINUTES before the deadline. I was already thinking of withdrawing my application when I finally got the notification that I got the Gilman. Yeah, I heard that having the Gilman behind your back could look, as you said very "kawaii" on the application but Spain is still one of the most competitive places for the ETA programs so anything goes. I'm guessing you're applying for the Korea Fulbright research program? That's awesome btw, I didn't have a chance to go there but I heard its super fun. I miss legit Japanese food too, I'm kind of ruined for life since my taste buds refuse to like American sushi. Did you have an interview at school too? I was recommended by my interviewers so I was a little happy about that, but still...I'm super nervous.

Oh yeah, same here! I wouldn't have been able to have such a life-changing experience without Gilman. I only hope that with Fulbright, I can finish what I started there. Their kimbap (Korean version of sushi) was to die for.... I loved Korea so much that even after my Master's program (if awarded a Fulbright), I'd like to stay another 5 years to a decade (if not permanently) haha

Spain~~~! I went when I was in high school with my Spanish class. Where do you plan to carry out your project? I think my favorite city in Spain was Barcelona. That sunrise over the Mediterranean was mesmerizing... not to mention the cool architecture!

I didn't have an interview with my school. I applied at-large. I  graduated last Spring. I wanted to apply through my school but my adviser was super discouraging, unresponsive, and unhelpful. He made it clear that he had very little faith in me haha Plus he wanted me to take time off from my full-time job to drive 4 hours away to have the interview where a simple Skype call would have sufficed. So I went rogue haha But I received a lot of help from my college's head of the writing department which I'm super grateful for. In the end, I'm glad that I applied at-large rather than through the school. If it was up to him ranking me, I probably wouldn't have made it this far.... Using your instincts can be key in things like this lol

Yeah, I didn't apply with my alma mater this year. The past two years they have not been very helpful, especially because we've only had two Fulbright winners since the beginning of time. I decided to work with Fulbright alums and current Fulbrighters this time around; it has proved to work so far! *fingers crossed*

Just checked, Germany announcements went out at 2:30 on this Tuesday of the month last year. ;)

I am in full psycho mode right now, please excuse me.

Here's an idea I've been playing with. Maybe most notifications will be a week or two later than when they usually come out since our first round notifications were sent out about a week or two later than last year's date? I hope that's not true but it's a possibility.... notifications have been a bit slow this year...

I meant when they are released in general. I didn't mean to suggest that I expected a decision today. From the document it seems like decisions will come next week, but that is just an educated guess.  I was wondering if anyone had a more specific time frame so that I can stop spastically checking my email so much.

What about the document makes you think next week and not today?

So according to my massive and intense calculations of the dates Thailand sent out their notifications...

March 23, 2009: Monday, fourth week of March

April 16, 2010: Friday, third week of April

April 21, 2011: Thursday, third week of April

March 27, 2012: Tuesday, fourth week of March

April 2, 2013: Tuesday, first week of April

... it looks like I have less of a clue of when it's going to come, except that it may come this week until end of April. T_T

This is the equivalent of me trying to do some numerology.

Ahhhh, same here! My college has only had 5 or 6 Fulbright scholars over a span of 32 years (back when there was a West Germany! haha).  None of them have ever gone to Asia. I hope to be the first! Fingers crossed for all of us!

Reminds me of what I did for France.

It really can come at any point. I was completely blindsided when I got my news : /

Using a nice ~*scholarly analysis*~ of notifications:

2013-2014: March 27th, a Wednesday

2012-2013: March 13th, a Tuesday

2011-2012: March 15th, a Tuesday

2010-2011: March 16th, a Tuesday

Then, further back than that, things were released in April so that totally screws up the data.

I STRONGLY believe we will hear this week, but no idea if it will be today.

Also, according to the notification dates from other countries this year, there has been zero indiciation that the budget issues/delay in notification about if we were finalists or not has had any effect (in fact, some countries seemed to notify earlier than usual this year.)

Blindsided how so? not expecting it to come in the mail? Or because of the result?

I'm honestly trying to just expect a "no" because I just know it's so ridiculously competitive. But I still am having anxiety about it :/

Oh, ok. I thought the "we" meant the Germany applicants. I've got my money on today. In fact, I've got my money on today in the next 30 minutes. I've been perfectly cool about it until today, but now I'm anxiety eating as I wait. You Gradcafeers' anxiety is rubbing off on me!

LOL I'm sorry :(  I am stuck at work with very little to do, otherwise I'd go for a walk/jog/whatever to get away from this nonsense!
