I don't expect any news for at least another week or two so I'm living vicariously through all of you

How did the IU interview go? They have a pretty solid program from what I hear and Bloomington is a beautiful town. Indianapolis provides a lot of opportunities to show as well.

Got my first rejection today.  I guess I don't have to worry about riding a bike around hilly Pittsburgh..

No one has heard from VCU?  I am waiting here, patient and hopeful.

That sucks kierstin. How were you notified?

They sent an email this afternoon.  I'm not sure it would have been a good fit for me regardless, even if they were interested. That program seems really motivated by more politically involved, community based work.  I'm more interested in white walls than I am in social practice.

Looks like you made it to the next round though. Congratulations! Best of luck with the process.

If its by email then I suppose you may be correct. However, they seem to notify gradually so I don't know about "rounds". I'm hopeful that that is the case, though- their program is probably the best "fit" for me.

the interview was strange....It was very impromptu, they literally just called me notifying me that i am being considered and then began to ask questions. I do really love their program especially since it is very small, but i am nervous they focus too much with in specific mediums. As in if you apply for sculpture you better do sculpture, which for me is a negative. I want exploration, which is why i applied as for sculpture i feel it is a large umbrella encompassing all forms of art.

I am not sure how it actually went since it was my first ever interview, needless to say i was thrown off and nervous. it also sucked that the professor didn't know one of the artists that i am most inspired by...so that part of the conversation was hard, i felt he was trying to lead me to say someone else, which i did but i tried to re-iterate the importance of the artist he was not familiar with.

we will se i guess. I am just happy i am being considered.

i'm very excited for my CCA interview i really love their program. It is super heavy on theory and the artists thought process and personal exploration. they are also very open about artists exploring different mediums, which is great.

Ditto with CMU.

Awesome! You are 1 of 20, so your chances have vastly improved.

Really? What is your source?

I spoke to the woman in admissions earlier this week because my transcripts never got there, and I asked about the timeline. Apparently I made it through 1 round of rejections, and Friday they had a meeting to further reduce their list. She said 20 people get interviews, and they narrow that pool down to 8, I guess because a few people will inevitably chose another school. She said something about March 5th. Is that your interview date? If not, it may be the date they let you know if you were accepted or not.

Will you do the interview in person?

It will be a Skype interview this Friday. My interviewer said that they were all meeting to present their "cases" the first week of March-  after the interviews. Mine will be this Friday. He didn't offer an option of an in person interview, so I guess they are all either Skype or a phone interview. I was told it was very informal and casual and to be myself- their primary purpose for the interview is to see who will be a good fit for the program and with the other graduate students. So, I'm going to try to approach it in that manner.

And thank you for the information on the process!

Does anyone/everyone in here still have the "MFA" on their Columbia slideroom? Trying to figure out if I should be optimistic or if they just haven't changed any of the sculpture area applications yet.

To all those waiting on VCU for sculpture, I just emailed them and they said they would have made their preliminary decisions by the first week of March! Not so far away :)

Preliminary? Did it sound as though they would be conducting interviews during the first week of March?

Well, in my email I asked whether acceptance/interview emails had been sent out, and the reply was pretty much just that! So I THINK it means that this will be the first bit of communication from the school, sculpture at least. No word on when the interviews will be conducted though :/

Looks like the RISD ship has sailed on without me. Ah well.

But! Goldsmiths interview, WashU acceptance, both today.

Good luck, y'all!
