Insubong
I have taken two GRE tests. I will apply economics graduate schools this year and currently considering which GRE scores to send. In my first trial, I got V : 155 / Q : 168 / AWA : 3.0 in second exam, I got, V : 151 / Q : 170 / AWA : 3.5 Verbal score of the first GRE score was better, but scores in quantitative and writing section were better in the second GRE. As I am applying economics phd courses, which score would be better when I send scores? Are there schools that put more weight on Verbal section than Analytic Writing section? If you share information it would be so helpful.
Just Jeff
Hi, honey. There's actually a new feature on ETS called "Score Select." YOU can choose what scores to send where. Email me if you have any questions about it!
iphi
Hi, honey. There's actually a new feature on ETS called "Score Select." YOU can choose what scores to send where. Email me if you have any questions about it! Unfortunately you can only choose an entire test (e.g. October 2013 attempt or August 2013 attempt) not pick and choose individual section scores. To the OP I think you should submit both. It should how you have improved in the sections that your program will likely care about, and that you are capable of scoring up to 155V. aspvg
You should send the second set of scores. You just want to avoid strong negative signals. 3 on AW is 11th percentile where as 3.5 is 30th percentile. 30th won't stick out as much. Also for Econ you are competing with a lot of international students. I would think 49th in verbal probably doesn't stick out as bad in comparison. Edit: And I just noticed the date of this post. Edited February 11, 2014 by wisescience
