obviousbicycle
I am currently trying to get my SoPs done and I have a few questions in mind: I am not sure how specific should I talk about my research interest. I mean if it's not specific enough they may think I am directionless and if it is too specific I am afraid they will think I am not up to any other options. What do you guys think? Also, do we really have to mention specifically the name of our professor of interest in our SoP? Some people said you have to mention your professor of interest in your SoP but I'm worried if that will narrow down my chances because I am up to working with any professor. TakeMyCoffeeBlack
I would suggest talking about specific and general research interests (so that you seem focused but still open to other ideas). As for mentioning POIs, you can name more than one (though of course don't name the whole department).
