MyUsername123
My third professor writing me a letter literally just backed out and the deadline is in a month. I have a TA who knows me very well willing to write me a letter, but I am wondering if this will be ok? I am applying to Journalism school so was wondering as it is a preprofessional program if a letter from a non-PhD would work?
Seeking
Ideally you should look for another professor or another person in professional journalism for whom you may have worked. I don't think a TA's letter will be taken seriously.
Sarah Bee
I am also applying to a Journalism Master's programme. I got a very strong letter from my teacher, who is a senior editor with a leading newspaper but was a visiting faculty at my University. But just to be on the safe side, I got one letter from a professor too (as I am required to submit AT LEAST two letters of academic recommendation). It would be much better to ask a professor to endorse your letter, as I agree with the Mocha that a TA’s letter would not be considered very credible.
