Hey everyone,

I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow applicants and prospective applicants in behavioral neuroscience within psychology departments can connect with each other. I also thought that this thread could serve as a interview invite notification thread as well (feel free to chime in with Cog neuro stuff too). We are in a relatively small category of applicants as it seems a lot of people just apply to neuroscience programs, and many behavioral neuroscience programs share faculty between neuroscience programs (psychology and biology departments).

As for myself, I've applied to 11 programs and haven't heard back from any yet, but I expect to hear back in the next few weeks. There are very few results posted for behavioral neuroscience for previous years as well, so there is not much to go on.

I will post as I hear back, and I'd appreciate if other people chimed in as well, so we can ease our anxiety levels. I am also open to sharing some on my background and who I am applying to if it's reciprocal (the POI thing in PM, not on this thread). Share your thoughts, good news, or concerns!

Heard back from IUB Program in Neuroscience (PNS) and the IUB PBS program today. I also know one other person that got an invite from IUB PBS a few days ago. The interview weekend is 2/6-2/8. Anyone else get invites yet? It still seems a little early to me.

University of Delaware sent out all psychology invites this morning. Their recruitment visit is 1/30-1/31.

To the person who just posted in the results about Buffalo, did you get any info regarding funding or anything from the department? I got an email yesterday from the Graduate School that I was accepted (cognitive), but no other details (says soon to follow). However, after talking with a former classmate who goes there, apparently they are a bit backwards in their process and acceptance to the graduate school does not necessarily mean you have a funded spot in the department yet

I officially received the acceptance email this morning, and like you did not received details regarding funding. One of the PI's emailed me (who I did not list as someone I was interested in) a few days ago saying he would like to discuss my application. I replied back but have not heard from him since, he mentioned he would be in San Diego (where I currently live) on Feb 6-10th and wanted to meet then. I am guessing I am accepted into his laboratory....

Regardless, it is a huge relief to have an acceptance to ameliorate all the stress and ambiguity.

Congrats lunarem on your clinical acceptance.

Penn sent out all psychology invites the other day. The coordinator told me no more would be sent unless something happens (like some interviewee declines or cancels their app).

Congrats lunarem and evrard on your acceptances!

Congrats as well! I'm still waiting for that follow-up letter with details... I'm skeptical since I never had an interview and after searching this forum I see people have received acceptance to UB with no funding.

Has anyone heard anything from American, Arizona State, or University of Nebraska Omaha?

I had a phone interview with Arizona State last week. I haven't heard anything since then though.

I just got this weird email from a program that I had not yet heard anything from:

"Greetings! On behalf of the faculty, I want to thank you for your interest in our program. We are all very happy that you applied and encourage you to visit the faculty web pages. Because our faculty work closely with graduate students in their laboratories, it is important for you to find a faculty mentor whose research interest matches your own similar interests.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions. We will be reviewing applicants and will make final decision on admittance by March 15th."

I'm confused by this email because I have already identified a POI, which is why I'm applying there in the first place, communicated with her several times, and made it very clear who it was in my SOP and application. I'm not sure whether this email is asking for any kind of response from me or just a generic status update. It also is coming from my POI, because she happens to be the grad coordinator of the program. Should I write back just to tell her she is my POI, or ignore it and wait for a follow up? I'm also assuming this means there are no interviews which is odd.

That does seem a bit odd, perhaps they emailed you by mistake? I would write back and inquire more information.

Also, I got an interview for WVU for their Behavioral Neuro program. Has anyone heard anything about their program?

Forgot to update! Got accepted at Delaware, waiting for a post interview decision for Indiana, interview with Miami Ohio this week, and got invited to UConn for an in person visit. I'll try and remember to post like I said :-). Grats neuro fanatic!

Does anyone know anything about the University at Buffalo or West Virginia University's programs? Would anyone suggest one over the other? Does anyone know anything regarding prestige of either of these schools?

I'm a future applicant, but good luck to everyone applying this season!

My research interests lie in behavioral neuroscience, even if U of T doesn't exactly have a neuroscience degree. Getting ready for GREs, writing my first draft of my SOP, it's all so intimidating...
