Just accepted an offer from UB for their behavioral neuroscience doctoral program. Looking forward to moving to Buffalo in mid June/July. Hoping to live in the Elmwood/Allentown area, also looking for a roommate is anyone is interested.
  2. I am interested if the schools I am deciding between are moving up or down.... is there any historical information available? Specifically for Psychology programs.
  3. Yeah, I believe so. Dont feel bad, I didnt get invited either
  4. They definitely will. Your GRE scores are great, what is your major GPA and lat two years GPA?
  5. I've just been accepted to the behavioral neuroscience program. Looking forward to knowing more about Morganstown. Is it a pretty liberal town? What is rent usually?
  6. I've been accepted to West Virginia University and University at Buffalo's Behavioral Neuroscience programs. I am having a hard time choosing between the two. Albeit, both these programs are based out of the psychology departments they encourage collaboration with the Neuroscience departments. Does anyone have any thoughts on the two? Does one rank noticeably higher than the other?
  7. To further elucidate on this matter, as its quite prevalent here, UB has multiple ways to fund students. Some are from the university itself and thus students are accepted prior to receiving an official funding offer to try and secure funding from outside the department. Obviously there are many advantages to that, primarily being the department can accept a student without the financial burden. For example, I was accepted early because the department thought I would be a prime candidate for the Schomburg Fellowship which provides students with a larger stipend and for a longer duration. My best advice is to contact the faculty member who coordinates everything and ask for more details. Personally, I would do this over the telephone as details are often hard to convey through email. Hope this helps.
  8. No, you don't have to accept to receive your funding information that will come from the department soon. I was accepted to UB on 1/22 and just got my funding information today.
  9. Does anyone know anything about the University at Buffalo or West Virginia University's programs? Would anyone suggest one over the other? Does anyone know anything regarding prestige of either of these schools?
  10. I am interested in the schools I applied to are on an upward or downward trend
  11. They only asked for my courses that I took Fall 2014 and how I did in them - I submitted my transcripts prior to this with all my coursework.
  12. My top choice and I had communication for almost a year, I had visited the campus and met with a ton of faculty members. I asked how I could become a competitive applicant and they told me to present at Society for Neuroscience conference - so I did.... 2 posters! I found out today that I'm not even being considered for an interview. That really hurts.... after a full year.
  13. I applied to 9 schools and only received an interview for 2 of them. =x
  14. I got an email asking me what courses I took in the fall and how I did on them. The school already has my transcripts prior to this. I am nervous to respond because I retook a course I failed this past summer and got a C instead of D+. However, I am petitioning to have the C replace the D+ (and likely this will happen in just a few weeks). Further, I am in graduate school now the 3 courses (4 including the one I retook) I took for personal benefit I received a B, B+, C, and a D+. These grades significantly bring down my GPA, but within my required classes for my masters degree I have not received anything lower than an A-. I want to justify everything but don't want to make excuses or harp on reasons why my GPA isn't where I would like it. I have attached what I have so far. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
  15. I didn't get a CUNY invite, this is extremely disappointing and a little surprising considering I have been in contact two 2 POI's for over a year.
