Potential Teachers, where did you apply?

With most application deadlines over, where are all my future teachers? Where did everyone apply? I am already stressed out and there's still over a month before decisions! Hopefully hearing from other nervous people will make me feel better  :D

I applied for secondary math at Stanford STEP, and UC Santa Cruz MA Education/Teaching Credential

Also, any other future math teachers out there?

Future biology teacher. MA/MAT/MT in secondary biology with initial certification. 1000 different names for these programs eh? I only applied to east coast schools because I was more prepared for east coast standards such as praxis scores and such. I was bummed that I couldn't try schools in the pacific northwest because that's my dream locale (they have obnoxious state specific tests that have to be taken in person, not about to drop hundreds to fly out to an area that I might not even have a steady job in!) but it wouldn't hurt to just get my degree here and work on certification later. I know for certain that California has issues with reciprocity for anything that is outside of the east coast.

List of schools: Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Maryland (alma mater), University of virginia and two fallbacks Towson (north of Baltimore, MD) and George Mason (Fairfax, VA). My first deadline was today (Columbia) and I put that in. The other have Feb 1st and March 1st deadlines.

Future math teacher here! I applied to Northwestern for their MS in secondary education program and the University of Chicago for their UTEP program. I got into Northwestern and I interview at the University of Chicago at the end of the month. Good luck!

Does anyone in this thread know if it is more common or less common to have interviews for MA/Credential programs? (Specific knowledge of Stanford or UCSC would be even better). I can't find any info on any of the program cites that I'm looking at.

Because I was thinking, if the websites say the deadline to notify people is March 1, then does that mean (if there is an interview) that they will notify of whether or not I have an interview on March 1? Or does it mean that sometime before March 1 I will find out if I get an interview after which they will tell me by March 1 the final decisions, taking my interview into account?

Sorry, explaining that sounded sorta convoluted.

Hi, Everyone! I've been teaching in English in Puerto Rico for three years and applied to 7 Ph.D programs in the east coast (well, except for Vanderbilt). Haven't head from any yet, which has me pretty bummed. I got my BA in English Lit at UVa and then did my MA in Puerto Rico (ESL). Good luck to everyone! Hope we hear back soon!

I am already a certified teacher, but decided to pursue a graduate degree and hopefully a doctorate in Art Education. Applied to 4 schools, heard back from 3 and still waiting on one. Applied to Penn State, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of North Texas & University of Houston.

I applied to the same programs but for science. I haven't heard anything from UC Santa Cruz but STEP called me today and I was accepted! Best of luck to you.

I'm also already certified and have been teaching Special Education for 3 years.  I'm going back for my Master's and possibly a doctorate.  I applied to UT Austin and Vanderbilt and got in to both.  I'll probably be going to UT because Vanderbilt is insanely expensive.

AmandaLemon: Do you plan on staying in the U.S. after your degree or returning to Russia? I spent two years working with schools in Kazakhstan and I found the way math education is done to be really interesting.  The kids seemed to have way more exposure to different topics. I was told it was based on what they do in Russia, but that may or may not be the case.

Oh man... well I guess that is going to make today one of the most anxiety ridden days of my life.

And thanks so much for the update!! Keep us posted on your decision!

I would like to stay in the USA because I am eager to have a teaching experience in american schools. I know, it will be absolutely different from russian schools, so I really want to try.

In Russia there are a lot of problems in modern schools... The situation in educational system here is really tough. I don't like what is happening with our school education at all. So, I don't want to return to it... But it is what I think right now. Who knows what I will be thinking after the degree.

It's been 3 weeks after my interview in the U of Central Florida. I am trying to stay calm but honestly I am really nervous. On the website it is still said "no decision".

Oh my God, I really don't know what to think. It is my dream school...

Did anybody else apply to the UCF? Do you have any news from them?

I applied to UC Davis and CSU-Sacramento; they are local and I have a family, so moving isn't an option. Does anybody know how long the application review process usually takes at either/both of these schools? UCD's admissions are rolling; CSUS's deadline is March 1. I submitted both within the last 2 weeks. (Couldn't turn in my apps until I got more classroom observation hours, which took awhile b/c I have a full time job.)
