Academicat Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I've been accepted via the appstatus website since Friday, but I haven't yet heard, via phone call or email, from the school. I am waiting, but the million questions I have are driving me nuts. Would you call the graduate school/department, or cool your heels and be patient?
iExcelAtMicrosoftPuns Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I'd play cool. They'll call you when they're ready. Perhaps they're waiting for "Super Important Person" to have some time to speak to you directly. Perhaps they're waiting for the details of your funding. Yeah, I'd wait.
Icydubloon Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Wait for them to call you. Perhaps the "super important person" could be out of the country for all you know.
Lifesaver Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Wait. I had the opposite problem. I got a phone call, but the status on the website hadn't changed, I didn't get an email, nothing in the regular mail, etc. I waited a week to email them to get the email resent to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I still haven't gotten anything in the regular mail, though.
TakeruK Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Definitely wait for the phone call, unless there is some absolute urgent reason you must know right now. Urgent reasons might be another program giving you a short deadline to respond so you need the information to decide, or you are planning a school visit in the area and you would like to know if you can combine both visits in one trip to save money for everyone! In one case for me, I later found out that it took the school a few more days to contact me because there was some miscommunication between the profs on who was supposed to call me (people thought other people were supposed to do it). Or it might be like icydoubloon said and the person is just away/busy!

Will be getting the formal notice from them this week. Needed to be certain so that I can formally withdraw my other apps.
Academicat Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 So... the DGS just called, and it was good news. I am so glad I didn't call first!

I emailed them after getting a voicemail and am waiting to hear back...
