the rejection letter is as below, please tell me what's the problem,

Thank you for your inquiry about your status. The Graduate Committee met this week and, unfortunately, you did not make our list of students we are making offers to.  While the reviewers appreciated the work you put into the application and recognize that you have interesting ideas and experience, the reviewers thought other applicants had a better fit for our Ph.D. program. We thank you for your interest in our program and wish you continued success in your academic career.

The problem is they ended a sentence with a preposition!

"You did not make the list of students we are making offers to."

But seriuosly, it reads like "fit" may be the issue. They aren't saying that you are not qualified for their program, but instead that other applicants just fit their area better. Overall, not a bad rejection letter.

...Except for ending a sentence with a preposition!
