I know that Adelphi is a large program. What have you heard about faculty involvement and atmosphere of program?

What is the difficulty level of the program? Is there an abundance of journal articles to read and analyze or is it more traditional book and lecture learning?

I just recently got accepted to Adelphi's program and it is one of my top choices. I also have a friend who is currently a grad student in the program - I've never heard a bad thing about the program. I've heard great things about the faculty as a whole. My friend tells me they're very approachable and friendly.

I appreciate your response! I am wondering if you know if Adelphi is heavy into reading and reviewing journal articles or it is more lecture and book reading? In general, how difficult is the program? Are students competitive or is it a supportive feel.....where do out of town students live? Any specifics your friend has shared with you is much appreciated.

Good luck to you as you make your decision!

I'm pretty sure Adelphi has housing available, although I don't know any out of town students, so I can't speak to that. My friend said there's a pretty supportive feel and it's not terribly competitive. I don't know about whether textbooks or articles are emphasized more at Adelphi but my friend said she reads both for classes, which sounds to me like a good balance! Hope this helps!

What is the average GRE scores that Adelphi grad students have? I cannot find that number anywhere.  Goingtobeslp13, would it be possible for me to ask your friend specific questions? I want to learn all I can about Adelphi and it would be great to connect with someone already in the program. Thanks so much!

Adelphi is a great school. i have a family member that attended it- she said the faculty was awesome, students are very helpful and supportive, diverse students (since they only require 6 courses of pre-req's, you end up with career changing students, which adds diversity to the class),you go to schools on sundays (except for clinic work which is in Garden City campus, and also occasionaly for a class or two u need to attend garden city during the week a couple times). Everyone there gets clinic placements, the only downside is, like in every school, if u want to work with adults, it could be a little harder to find a placement as there are fewer of those to go around.
Adelphi has a great name in the field, is respected , and u have to consider at the end of the day, that your education has 2 components: what they teach you /show you in the clinic at school, and then how much work u put in.
