Speechstudent Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I love Adelphi campus and clinic is outstanding, but I know nothing about where to live. I would love to live in NYC but don't know if the commute is practical. Any suggestions about where to live that is a good fit (fun neighborhood) for a single woman would be appreciated. Would be nice if I could take public transportation.....but not sure if this is possible or if I will absolutely need a car. Thanks so much!
goingtobeslp13 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I live in Queens, right near the border of Nassau County. It's about a 25 minute drive to Adelphi from where I live. I'm not exactly sure how far Adelphi is from the Garden City LIRR train station, because I've never taken that train. It's between a 43 and 48 minute train ride from Penn Station though, if you choose to live in NYC. http://lirr42.mta.info/schedules.php Personally, I would suggest living in a neighboring town in Long Island and commuting by car, if that's a feasible option for you. I wouldn't want to commute from Manhattan to Garden City, but that's my personal preference. If you live in Queens or Long Island, it's not difficult to (and many people do) go to the city on weekends.
deci:belle Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 To add on what the above poster said, you can take the LIRR to the Adelphi, and there is a shuttle from there directly to the school.
Speechstudent Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Thanks for the responses! Still in the process of making my final decision regarding where best to live.
