  1. With mine last year, they all made funding offers a about 1-3 weeks after. The ones who didn't were kind of upfront in telling that they wern't going to offer any funding
  2. I didn't really look into the blog at all actually lol. I'm just wondering what the next step is from CUNY.
  3. Lived in: NYC , Columbus,OH and Jamaica Traveled to: Spain, Portugal, France, Brazil and Canada. I'm dyinggg to go to Italy! Honorable Mentions: South Korea, UK, Ghana, Mexico, Colombia & Australia
  4. I'm a bit late, but awesomeee! You're the first I've seen also going to CUNY. To answer your question, no - I'm living at home.
  5. YES. YES. YES. and for me BLT's and Bacon Egg and Cheese rolls from the bodega. The best.
  6. Have been looking for a tiny part time job I can hold down while in school with zero luck for months now. And lo and behold, in the past two days, I get four offers back to back... It's kind of like that same feeling like you've at the bus stop for an half an hour to only see three empty buses come at the same time...yeah, just like that..

  7. CUNY Graduate Center! Nervously excited
  8. I can't believe I just officially committed to the CUNY Grad Center, c/o 2018. Momma, I made it to grad school!! <3

  9. I've been carrying a purse instead of a backpack to school since high school (since backpacks made me lean forward in my posture), and now I have a lovely bend in my spine to the side. Even when I stand up straight I'm lean - so I'm thinking for the first time in a long time I'll have a backpack again to counterbalance it. It seems either way I'm screwed. Maybe I need to drink more milk!
  10. Well, I'm straight out of undergrad and going into my AuD program and location was very very important in choosing my schools. First of all, rural areas won't cut it. No matter how amazing the school is. If I am bored out of my mind for 4 years then I just can't do it. I won't be happy at all to do the work that would be required of me. For that alone, I declined two of my offers even though they are ranked much higher than my final choice. Maybe I'm really biased being from NY, but I just think that so much experiences come out of a city life and theres so much more stimulation. However on the flip side, it can be a distraction to your research if you are always trying to have fun.
  11. Frequent naps. I'm sure it would be hard to come by in graduate school, but in undergrad it worked for me wonderfully. After ever class, I would go back to my room and take a nap right away. After I woke up I was always ready to do whatever, whether it be assignments, go to my job, read, study etc. Without it, I was like a cranky 3 year old dragging my feet. And of course exercising. I took up boxing for two years and with no surprise it does wonders for stress relief (and your body).
  12. I got a bad taste in my mouth when my boyfriend in undergrad wanted me to transfer out to be closer with him. I put my foot down that I wouldn't and we broke up. After which, I enjoyed my experience in college WAY more. Now that I'm older, I don't know if I would make the same choice. I want to say yes, because I can't transfer schools with my major or start and stop. So if he couldn't wait for me for 4 years, then I guess it wasn't meant to be.
  13. It's starting to hit me that I am about to really commit to a school based solely on $. Not sure how to feel right now ...

I almost committed on presitige or rank alone...I have since severely rethought my decision...but I don't blame you for making it based of money, it's pretty important.

  14. WrestleMania is upon us!

  15. I would just go with what you have now if you think the program is a good one. Why put off something you can do today? Especially when it is not guaranteed you will get better next year (or two years later).
  16. NYU sounds like the better the deal. The 40% off is pretty clutch too!

    New York, NY

There is no student pass. However, what might be best for you is to buy the round trip tickets ahead of time which saves like $2-3 each time (depending if your going offpeak or peak). If you do end up going into the city for more than 2x a week then I would advice you get a weekly pass which from that zone I believe is $116
  18. Wishing at this moment that Columbia University offered my program.

  19. The cohorts for my program are usually around 10 people with 12 being the highest and 8 the lowest.
  20. This department is pathetic. On 20th March they send me official admission offer and on 26th I got email from Jill Fryzowski stating the admission letter was sent out in error. Now on very next day they send me the rejection letter . This is bizarre. Anyway, I have much better offer; so I give damn shit on your face. ... Um, what?
  21. - Never tried dark liquor of any kind - Never tried drugs or cigarettes - Never carved a pumpkin - Never been Trick or Treating (Lived in an apartment as a kid in a not so good neighborhood) - Also have never been to any of the NYC landmarks even though I was born here except for the new One World Trade - Never ate Turkey or stuffing on Thanksgiving Day (family always used a chicken instead) -Also have never seen any of those movies which seem to be so important to pop culture - Never gotten lower than a C in a class -Never cut class in highschool
  22. Now that this grad season is coming to an end, I'm trying to ween myself from refreshing my emails every 5 mins and looking forward to the mail everyday. It's proving to be difficult.

    CUNY

Glad to be adding to this thread! I will be attending this Fall in the Audiology department. For housing, I will be living with my parents in Queens (Rent free, but uughh I rather not). I am looking for an apartment in Brooklyn to move to instead. Hopefully theres funding so I could take that money and put towards that.
