  1. Congrats mraudguy!! Heard from SDSU today...any other second rounders like myself? There's still hope!
  2. "The department will start sending out teaching assistantship offers over the next two weeks. Funding is very tight and we only have a few to give out."

I know I'm dying on the inside, trying not to get my hopes up. And thanks @pears :)

  3. I'll just wait here until decisions roll in... -skeleton-

  4. Yes! Or my favorite, when the schools I apply to send me huge envelopes with my name on it. So I get excited, and rip it open ravenously... to see that it's only their school monthly magazine. Happened to me twice already. Gah!
  5. Funny you say that... This is a pic from my Instagram account yesterday. McD and BK at the same ... damn.... time Sometimes, you just got to eat your feelings
  6. Yeah I was born and raised here. Just moved to the midwest in my undergrad for an adventure. Glad you liked it here! CUNY is my first choice only when money is involved, because I would get instate tuition and stay with my parents (punch me in the face now), and save a ton. But otherwise, Rush is my top choice.
  7. Heard nothing from San Diego yet either, but even if I did I would drop it anyway because it is SO FAR, so that would free up a spot for someone else. But, I'm pretty sure it's too early in the game. I think we are probably in the second wave. Thank you! Congrats to you as well on Rush!! I will not be going unfortunately. I have a friend who is in their OT program who gave mw some insight on the school. And, I haven't heard of a person who didn't like it, so I hope thats a good sign!
  8. AUDCSL - why do you think you have been rejected to those schools already? Its pretty early in the game still and your stats are good.
  9. I agree with the previous poster. You sound WAY more passionate about the CUNY program. If I were you, I wouldn't be afraid about moving to NYC. I am bias because I was born and raised here, but I have the experience of moving away to a small town for undergrad, and moving back to NYC and feeling disoriented. Yes, it is big and there is a lot to get used to, but sooo many people have done it, adapted, and THRIVED. So why not you? The only issue you might run into is the high cost of living. Finding an apartment with a low fixed rent, coupled with the monthly unlimited MetroCard for transportation, and the cost of food, might have you in a bind. So I hope CUNY was generous enough to give you a good stipend to live off of. If they didn't, and your not comfortable with taking out loans, the you might benefit from UC Davis.
  10. How unorganized they are with notifying people of acceptances and funding. They seem to do it with no rhyme or reason. With getting into undergrad it was easy. They would just mail an acceptance letter that had the funding information in the same letter, now they wait weeks later. It's ridiculous.
  11. Thank you so much for the response!
  12. Money on my Mind. Give me funding!!

  13. Yea, basically what @DeafAudi said. I am highly functioning and most people wouldn't really notice because I don't wear a device. The only thing is that I will need to get a HA soon because my loss is getting worse. I would feel like a hypocrite if I told others they should wear aids and I don't. Something like not practicing what I preach. Also, for me, if my audiologist had a HL I would feel way more comfortable because I feel like that person would understand me more and it would be less of a "us, normal hearing people" vs. "You, HL person" feeling. For me personally, it made me feel inadequate. But, if they were like me it would be a different dynamic. More supportive, I suppose. And then for those who might discriminate, it's really dumb. If I was able of going through all those years of school and clinic, obviously I'm capable!
  14. Has anyone accepted into an Audiology program have funding offered to them at the same time of acceptance or soon after (1-2 weeks or so)? I'm trying to get some idea of what is going on specifically for Audiology. I'm not sure if they are only notifying top applicants first, then others later as people reject offers or letting the Financial Aid office handle it. Really I can't make sense out of it and it's making me a bit anxious.
  15. I had the exact opposite opinion when I went to read my SOP months later. I was like "Woah, where did I pull that out from?!"
  16. @DeafAudi - it's one of the rarer ones to come across because it's not by noise, aging or any of the common causes. It's genetic in nature. And I went to The Ohio State University. The 4th year there with the CI was the one to assure me that if he could do it, then I should be able to as well. Prior to that, I didn't know audiologists could have HL!
  17. Thanks! that took all the wittiness I had left in my being. And yeah, cookie bit configuration, sensorineural loss - sorry to confuse, it's a weird combo!
  18. There's a 4th year in my school's grad program at the moment, and I have a hearing loss myself (no CI or HA though), so it does happen! For me it's being a daughter of immigrants, Black-Caribbean with a cookie bite SN HL. A super random combination.
  19. When you check the results page and people have gotten accepted and you haven't any word at all. At least have some decency to tell me yes/no/maybe
