Hi quincepessa and congratulations on making it to Syracuse! I am looking for apartments myself and it's very hard since I'm an international student. Currently I'm looking at Maplewood apartments in the DeWitt area. Can you make any recommendations about places to look around and neighborhoods to avoid?

Here's the housing flyer describing the neighborhoods they gave in our program: https://www.maxwell.syr.edu/uploadedFiles/pa/Housing%20flier.pdf

We looked at Maplewood apartments, but felt like they were too far for me as I won't have a car. I found www.orangehousing.com very useful. In the "Apartment Complexes" they have quite a range of styles/prices.

From what I saw, the Wescott neighborhood and University Hill neighborhood are very nice and close to campus. We ended up in the Near Eastside and were able to get a slightly cheaper apartment with nice amenities.

Thank you very much for the thorough reply. I found it difficult to find a standalone 1BR/studio on orangehousing so had to look elsewhere. You're right, Maplewood IS rather far but it's on the University bus route. Moreover it's fully furnished and includes l all amenities so I won't have to bring a lot of stuff from my country. Nevertheless, I'll keep looking for a cheaper option to pop up in Westcott.

Hi all :)

I am not attending Syracuse U but my best friend lives there for graduate school and I have visited her many times. She loves her apartment complex and is very happy with her choice. It's spacious, friendly and clean. It's called Nob Hill. You might want to check that out!
