Can anyone comment on the Lo and Sons Brookline, which is a 15-inch laptop tote? I don't think I'd need the O.G. or O.M.G. since I don't do gyms and travel by plane only once or twice a year. Their video is very helpful--I just want to know that someone has actually used it and liked it!

Oh, and by the way, on their website they are advertising 20% OFF until July 6th! :)

I contacted their customer service I wanted to know if my 15.6 computer would fit. They replied no, but that they are working on a bag for larger laptops. It's not ready though.

I've found that Jansport has a lot of options size wise and capabilities on their website. I just bought the Flare backpack from them and I love it. Usually backpacks are big enough that they are so easily overpacked and end up hurting your back, but this one is actually toward the smaller side but big enough you can carry your laptop and 2-3 binders. I had done the tote and purse thing previously and just found it was much more of a hassle and since I walk everywhere getting caught in the rain with a tote that doesn't zip is not such a good situation when you're carrying your laptop!

for the ladies that want to use a purse/tote i have been using the large sized long champ tote for years now, have it in 3 colors (black, red, and like a moss-green) it is the best thing ever, fits my large 15.6 inch laptop, charger, folder, and notebook (1-2 usually 5 star notebooks) for the day along with my other daily needs. the bag can also be washed in the washing machine!

I can't use backpacks with the giant anthologies I have been given as required reading. I normally carry a large purse anyway, so I shove whatever writing utensils, small books, notebooks, etc in that and then just carry my laptop/text books. Its much easier that way for me.

I switch back and forth between the Dakine Frankie in a version similiar to the one linked here, and a feminine faux-leather bag that just fits my 13" labtop and my "usual stuff", depending on how much I have to carry on any given day. To be honest, I prefer handbags for the simple reason that I don't need to put them down every time I want to pay or check my phone. Sure, you can do that one-shoulder-hanging-backpack thing but mine is usually to full to get anything out in that position. On lab days, I usually have the Dakine and an all-in-one-wristlet that looks similiar to this or this. I "stole" the idea for the wristlet from a friend who also leaves her stuff in the lab on long days - it is awesome! If you do not want to carry your big bag around all day, that might be a good option.

I ordered the Dakine Network backpack: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008OXQR52/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It should be arriving this weekend. I have another backpack that I used for the last few years, but the straps are starting to wear out, so I figured it was time to move on to something new as I start my PhD program. I really like the look of the bag as well as the many compartments. I don't keep stuff like my phone or wallet in my bag. I prefer to have those items in my pockets (assuming I'm not dealing with annoying pocketless pants  ), but I do tend to like to keep some other items on hand like writing utensils, headphones, chargers, gum, etc. And it seems like this bag will make it easy to keep all that stuff organized.
