Dot1 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I have taken GRE twice and not satisfied with my scores. First time I scored Q=149, V=145, AW=3.0 while on the 2nd attempt, my score was Q=152, V=148, AW=3.0. Though I got admitted to NJIT for Fall 2013 with my first score, I deferred the admission and will be cancelling it this time because I want a better school. I have used many GRE preparation books ranging from Kaplan to Barron, Princeton and Nova. But because of my desperation to score higher and my believe in myself, I researched online on the best material and it seems to most people Magoosh is the best. Please, has anyone used it before? what was the experience like using it? Did you score high or higher? Though, I have read a couple of testimonies online and already going through their one week free trial, I still want to be sure am on the right track this time. I work, so have little time for studies. Plus am a prospective MSc student in Electrical Engineering. Target schools are Univ of Delaware, Iowa state univ, Univ of Houston and Auburn Univ. Target score Q=165, V=160, AW=5.0. I have just 3 months to prepare. Thanks
microarray Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Check the GRE thread. There's a few posts about Magoosh on there.
bsharpe269 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) I havent taken my actual test yet but by my practice test score, magoosh seems to be working well. ETS powerprep1 (in January): 154V, 163Q ETS powerprep2 (1 week ago): 161V, 169Q One of the biggest things that has helped me is actually their free vocab app. I do the flashcards when I am waiting at an appt or walking to my car etc. The math is also helpful because it is a bit harder than what actually seems to come up on the real test so it makes the real test feel a bit easier. smulloy21 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Magoosh and the Manhattan Prep books/practice tests definitely helped me raise my verbal and quant scores - for the AWA, I highly recommend: https://peaktestprep.com/gre/live-online-gre-analytical-writing-prep-course
kbui Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I love Magoosh! I highly recommend them. If you put the time and effort into it, you won't be disappointed with the price.
