A lot of you were on here over the course of this last year, especially on the "Fall 2014" applicant topic. I didn't post much but i did read most of everyone's posts in the history thread as I'm sure 99-100% of us did when we were waiting to hear back from all of the schools we applied to. I just wanted to kind of follow up with everyone, or at least the names I would recognize.Where are you all going? Did most of you get accepted or are we going to try again next year? Anyone still frustratingly waiting on a waitlist? I'd also like to know what everyone is going to study. I hope by the end of the summer most of you will have checked back at least once. I'll start:

2013:many rejections

2014: many rejections. One waitlist - turned into an acceptance.

Beginning in the Fall of 2014 I'll be attending UNC-Greensboro. I study 20th century US political and civil rights history, big emphasis on liberalism + the New Deal.

DCGuy, Greensboro is an awesome place to live, congrats on your acceptance.

There was a good thread in the Classics section that also included applicants' BA and (if applicable) MA work, as well as application summary, so as to give future applicants an idea of the competition.  Posting all that, however, would take forever

2014:  8 applications (spread out over Near Eastern Studies, History, and Religion): 4 acceptances, 4 rejections, 3 funded offers (only one in History).

Fall 2014:  UCLA, ancient history.

Specialization: (for now):  Judaism in late antiquity.

2012: Accepted at UIC (PhD full fellowship) and UWM (MA_

2014: 17 applications- accepted at Michigan, Indiana, UNM, Oklahoma, SMU, Madison, and UWM.

Attending: Indiana University with a focus in Early American, Native American history, likely specifically in the Ohio River Valley

this was a nice idea!

2013/14: Applied to 4 programs--accepted at 3, waitlisted at 1.

2014: Decided on UNC-Charlotte--My interests have already shifted, but I want to study the American South (undecided if I want to stay in 19th cen. or move to 20th) with a concentration in public history (AKA taking the 3 core classes that differentiates the programs).

At this point, I'm excited, but I have no clue what I'm doing.  <_<

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi DCGuy and all you Historians. Congratulations on your acceptances. For those of you who didn't make it in: don't give up! I was finally able to make the jump from Asian Studies to History (third times the charm?). Very happy to be heading to UO for a MA with a Graduate teaching fellowship.

Not much changed in my application, aside from making my SOP intro more personal and less academic. I was also able to get more applications out (12) thanks to some financial prudence. So, I mainly chalk it up to tenacity.

Of course, I will have to do it all again in a year and a half...But, I think that having a MA in history as well as narrowed research interests, a hopefully stellar graduate gpa, and more language training will help me get into a top program with funding.

2014: (first application session) applied to 6 schools, rejected at 3, wait listed at 2, and accepted at 1 - my dream school! I'll be studying Modern European History with a specialty focus on Imperial Germany ;)

I feel so incredibly lucky that at least one place wanted me enough to offer me admission. Congratulations to the rest of you!
