RedViper Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Hello! I just saw that WashU has a Ph.D Program in Classics. Is that a new program? Because I always thought that WashU only had a terminal MA program. In any case, has anyone here had any experience with the WashU Classics Department? Or does anyone have any information about the Ph.D program there? I was thinking of applying.
ἠφανισμένος Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Yes, WashU's PHD program in Classics is newish, but I don't know anything about it beyond that.
Pius Aeneas Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 From what I understand the MA program at WUSTL is one of the best, which makes me question the criminally insane judgment behind the decision to start a new PhD program in light of the downright abysmal job market in Classics. kblooms 1
Dancrozz Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 From what they told me, the PhD program at WashU was started as a result of the findings in a study conducted by a third party, and the study was enough to convince administration that it was a great idea. They have spent the last several years building up their resources in the library in order to support PhD students. It would be a great choice for anyone who is particularly interested in the Mediterranean economy, since they have an outstanding collection of coins (the Wulfing collection).
