I just logged in and saw that several applicants to NYU Sackler/Neuroscience received notification about interviews a couple of days ago.  Is it safe to assume that I will not be receiving an interview?  Or are there typically more than one "round" of notifications?

You should post your question here:

I didn't apply to NYU Sackler and every school is different (in whether there's one round of invites or several). So I'd just ask it in the Applying to Neuroscience topic that I linked above.

There can be more than one round of invites, but that may change year to year.  I would say if you haven't heard anything into January then maybe you can assume you are going to get rejected.  if they start having interview weekends and you haven't heard anything, then I think you can begin to make that assumption.

I applied to UCSF(BMS) and UC Berkeley (MCB) phD programs and haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone got interview calls from those two ? Should I assume that I won't be receiving any interview invites at this point ?

Someone posted in the Biology forum that they had emailed Berkeley and learned that all the invitations have already been sent out for MCB, so I think if we haven't heard from them yet it's possible we've been rejected. But it varies from university to university, so the same can't be said for your other schools. Email the graduate coordinator of your other program so that you can know for sure.

so it's the 19th of january and if I haven't heard back from UNC BBSP , Duke, Hopkins MMI, Dartmouth Biomedical sciences (all Phds)...I can safely assume that it's a no?

Have you heard back as yet? It's hard to say because some programs aren't done sending out invites as yet. I know UNC has a bunch of interview weekends. I think 6 in all.
