I sincerely regret putting in a good bit of time to forecast when decisions will be released for each of my programs. The first one is next week and I'm anxious!

I still have other applications, so I'm only done with the US. As much as I want to be done with the process, I'm really glad to have my mind occupied by everything I have left to do for at least the next week or so.

I'm done with all but Oxford. Which program decides next week, Brett?

I for one am busier than I'd like to be right now.

Ohio State's Econ program. They've made a reputation for themselves as the first Econ program to send out offers each year. Unfortunately, they do not announce funding decisions (pretty much everyone is funded) until February.

I noticed that some programs outside the US (mostly in Europe) have deadlines in March and April. I'm waiting to apply to those until I see how I fare with the programs that have made announcements before the end of February.

One of my recommenders missed my deadlines and doesn't answer my e-mails. I've been considering alternative career paths already  :P . Hopefully, I got an offer from New Zealand, so that makes things less worse.

Anyway, I'm speding most of my time in videogames and watching random sitcoms. As you can see on my signature, I'm in the South hemisphere and we are now in summer break, so there is nothing interesting to do. I can't even work since I have to wait for results to decide what I will do next in my life.

That is just absolutely horrible. Oh my God. And especially considering your background story, your prof should be particularly pumped to get those letters out for you! It does seem like there is always one professor that is the hardest to contact. :/ That was the most stressful part of the entire application process for me! Please keep us posted because I am pulling for you reixis!

I feel that my applications were not as great as I could have made them and am expecting mostly rejection letters. Hoping to get into an MA at the least. I was lucky enough to have a few fabulous letter-writers, one of which had a few connections and let me know he put in word with them directly for a few of the schools I applied to.

I get to job-hunt while I wait for word back, and probably listen to records and play board games and drink a lot of wine and plan for next years applications in case the worst-case scenario happens.

Stressful, but not too bad. Starting classes again soon-ish, and I decided to audit a fourth class in addition to teaching to keep myself busy. Hoping to have my MA thesis basically finished in two weeks as well.

Thanks for you kind words! He emailed me last night (actually, a few hours after I posted here) and he said he will upload it in the next days. I hope it gets there in time. I feel kind of relieved right now.

Good to hear!

Good luck, reixis.

I'm glad you don't do epistemology, Jared. You look like a strong candidate.

Thanks, that's nice of you to say. Your application looks quite strong as well!

Is anyone going to audit classes while they wait? I just found out I get to sit in on a 20th century course this spring (and hopefully and Existential Literature class as well). I'm super excited!

Yep, I am. Currently auditing a seminar on the third book of Hegel Science of Logic, the "Logic of the Concept." After being away from philosophy in a university setting for a few months, it's fantastic to remind myself why I'm going through the application process.

I share your feelings about being away completely from philosophy. I felt great just because a friend asked me for help with a paper a couple of months ago. It's hard to find ways to emulate that.

I don't think I ever introduced myself to the board but I'm sitting out for 2 years. And all I can do is wish you all a safe, low-stress end to your application process. Good luck everyone.

I had similar feelings about a week ago when I read a philosophy paper after a long break. Refreshing!

I'm auditing! Last semester I audited a course on cognition and language, and this semester a course on Wittgenstein. I really wanted to audit Mathematical Logic too, especially being that logic is my weakest philosophical subject, but of course that course conflicts with my work schedule. Ugh- damn job.

Nastasya, I recommend Mike Genesereth's logic class on Coursera. I don't know when he'll be teaching it again, but it's a great class.  It also covers relational and meta-logic far more thoroughly than most philosophy logic courses do. https://www.coursera.org/courses?query=logic

Or if you like, you can audit my online Intro to Logic course at Rutgers. (This isn't an open invitation...it's a full class, so I can't take on many more people.) I'm using Language, Proof, and Logic (2nd edition), which is an expensive book, but it's worth it for the great software. If you're interested, PM me.
