Hello all, this is my first post on gradcafe so I apologize if I tend to ramble! I recently received an invitation to interview for one of my top schools (Human Development PhD program). Soon after, I received an email from the professor I had been corresponding with, saying she would "like me to attend" her Research Apprenticeship Class while I am in town in order to give me a better idea of what to expect as a doctoral student in the aforementioned program. Of course, I have spent the last four days obsessing over that email, looking for meaning where there likely is none. So, I was wondering, does anyone think that this invitation holds any special significance? Could this mean I am closer to acceptance than I thought?

Thank you :)

It just means that the prof wants you to get a feel for how classes work in the program. It doesn't mean you're admitted, if that's what you're asking. It gives you and them another chance to assess if the program is the right fit for you. Go to the class prepared (ask for and do whatever reading they might require), participate but don't dominate, and be yourself. Good luck!

Which program? I also applied for an HDFS program (at Oregon State) and thought I'd make an introduction in case we're applicants to the same school :)
