Policykid Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Anyone else here whose applied to the MPA-DP program ??
Hina Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I applied for the MPA-DP program as well. Anxious to hear back!
Policykid Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 It appears to be a very potent program for those interested in pursuing careers in the development sector... as for results, i wonder if they would be delayed on account of the shifting of the admissions office....
beefmaster Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Planning on applying for this for 2016. What attracted you to this over the MIA / MPA?
oscarsson Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Hey I just got the answer. I'm in, no word about funding though. You guys know if this means I got no funding? Good luck everybody!
Xperto Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) @oscarsson CongratS! I have also been accepted to the MPA-DP, my letter of acceptance states " "In a few weeks you will receive specific information on the cost of attendance and possible sources of financial aid. " Dunno if all are similar, but I guess that we will have to wait some more time to hear about funding Good Luck to everyone else!! Cheers! Edit: there seems to be some people in the results section that have already been notified about financial aid (excellent packages of 50K, 70K...) Hope that SIPA shares more of those Benjamins!!! hahaha Edited March 9, 2015 by Xperto
oscarsson Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 @Xperto congrats! Yeah you are right - guess I was just too excited to read it through :/ We'll just have to wait. Thanks!
Policykid Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Hey.. I got through as well! however absolute silence on the Funding aspect. I noticed that other applicants (not MPA-DP) have been notified about financial aid decisions already..
Policykid Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 hi all.. just heard back from the Admission Committee.. Any fellowships if awarded, would have been mentioned in the admission letter itself.. Besides only 10% of the first year MPA-DP student are awarded scholarships...

Besides only 10% of the first year MPA-DP student are awarded scholarships... Bummer. SIPA is slipping away from my shortlist.
Policykid Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 Has anyone admitted to the MPA-DP program at SIPA received even a whiff of financial aid???
oscarsson Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 So I just got this email: We think your background and interests will be a great fit with SIPA. Our MPA in Development Practice is led by , a foremost expert in . She will be in touch soon to share information about the and learn more about your goals. In the meantime, I hope you will click here to learn more about work. ??? Two blank spaces...

Policykid Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 yupp me too.. n here i was going nuts over minor typos in my sop!!!!
Policykid Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Who all are planning on enrolling in the program? From my research, the usual disadvantages associated with SIPA (too big a program, difficulty in registering for popular courses, impersonal nature of the program) do not apply to the MDP as such. The program is very expensive no doubt.. Divorcing myself from financial considerations, I have a very good feeling about the program..
Boats Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Hi Guys I too have concerns about the financial implications. Currently deciding between Harris, SIPA and Michigan. I also somehow feel that SIPA is a bit impersonal and might not lead to strong placements. Also, no funding received is a bummer.
oscarsson Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Hey guys, I'm turning down my offer for the MPA-DP. I don't know if anyone has been waitlisted but I hope my place makes space for someone else. Good luck to you all with your decisions!
