coffeeandtea
I have an interview for SFSU via google hangout webcam. It's a group interview, so there will be other applicants who are there in person. Unfortunately, I don't life close enough to drive to San Francisco for the day. Do you have any tips for webcam interviews? Do you have any idea of what type of questions to expect? kiran.khialani
Hii Do a trial run to get the lighting and sound checked. When you're speaking, look at the camera than the person - this gives them a feeling of eye contact. The interviews I had were very general, no SLP based questions. They lasted less than 15 minutes. I found that the iPad gave much better quality than a laptop. If you need to know anything else, let me know coffeeandtea
coffeeandtea
Thank you so much for the advice! I am planning on doing a practice interview with a friend.
Dammke1118
My group interview wasn't too bad. They had a list of random questions and they asked each of us a different question. Then they had us choose one that we wanted to answer (that someone else answered before) for the next round. The last question was a group based clinical question. That was it, just make sure you relax and pretend like you are chatting with some friends! coffeeandtea
moosemoose
Not really specific to webcam interviews, but try and remember to speak slowly! After my Skype interview I realized that I'd really rattled off answers quite quickly and wished I would have taken the time to breathe a little. Do you feel you should have spoken more slowly because your answers were too short? I know a lot of people tend to speak faster when they're nervous. speechpath
Did the clinical interview require specific speech knowledge? What was it like? Thanks for your help!
moosemoose
Great advice. Thanks. Do you feel you should have spoken more slowly because your answers were too short? I know a lot of people tend to speak faster when they're nervous. Kind of; I think speaking more slowly would have made me sound a bit less rambling and given me more time to collect my thoughts a bit. My nerves definitely got to me. coffeeandtea
