SnakePliskin207 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I figure we will all get word this week or next week at the latest, considering the accepted student weekend is around 10 April.
crisisdiplomacy Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Is Georgetown SFS similar in that of GWU where you can work full time and take classes or are courses usually throughout the day?
ajs48 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Hopefully we hear something today... Last year they heard on 3/19, which was the same Wednesday as today.
it's an IR world Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I kind of wonder if we government-y people are more neurotic (myself included) than the average applicee (yes I'm making up words).
ir_gradstudent Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) DECISIONS ARE OUT! I just got my decision! Admission to SFS MSFS program, and a financial aid award! Not sure on the amount yet, but this just makes choosing between SAIS and MSFS all the harder... Edited March 18, 2015 by ir_gradstudent it's an IR world 1
mrober77 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Just got an email from Georgetown saying that my admissions decision (for MSFS) was available. Rejected  . Sad, but not unexpected.  Good luck to everyone else, and congrats to all of those accepted!!
Filmore22 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Finally received a decision! In at MSFS with funding. Good luck everyone!
Akueldo Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 In!!!! With money too, but they say that will follow in a letter later on. Â Good luck everyone!

Congrats. I don't see anything about funding. Does that mean no funding? in any case, pretty happy!
Magistrate Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Just got my letter as well - unfortunately it was not an acceptance letter or waitlist. Good luck to everyone else who applied.
ZebraFinch Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Rejected, expected and okay with it as I wasn't very into the program.
laurbee Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Rejected, expected and okay with it as I wasn't very into the program. I was rejected as well and feel the same. Luckily I've felt this way about all my rejections so far. GWU was my top choice and luckily I got into that one... Congrats to everyone who got in!Â
Atlas445 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I applied to their SSP program and no news as of yet. Â No email, and my application has no updates... the waiting continues...
ir_gradstudent Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) Got in too! Congrats. I don't see anything about funding. Does that mean no funding? in any case, pretty happy!  It was in the second paragraph of my admissions letter:  Dear Mr. ir_gradstudent: Upon the recommendation of the Admissions Committee, I am pleased to approve your admission to the M.S. in Foreign Service program, effective with the Fall 2015 Semester. Be sure to print or save a copy of this letter for your future reference.I am also pleased to inform you that you have been selected to receive a merit-based Graduate School financial aid award. More information about your award and how to accept it is detailed in the financial award letter that will follow.  Edited March 18, 2015 by ir_gradstudent

Congrats to everyone who got in!  Yep, I'd much rather get rejected at a school I'm not into than take the place of someone who really wants it. I got waitlisted at my top choice (Fletcher)... so hopefully that pans out somehow!
IR2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 What does anyone know about how this program compares to SAIS? I feel like between SAIS, SIPA and Fletcher, MSFS has a strong reputation but seems to occupy a slightly different niche? It's a bit more difficult to find information on...
deletethisname Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Congrats to the MSFS crowd that got accepted. We SSP's are still waiting

According to Foreign Policy, MSFS is the best IR Masters program in the world with SAIS right behind it.
ZebraFinch Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) According to Foreign Policy, MSFS is the best IR Masters program in the world with SAIS right behind it. Â Most competitive too (at least that I've heard). Edited March 18, 2015 by ZebraFinch

Akueldo Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Anyone have any insight into how long financial award letters took last year?
it's an IR world Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I'm in! With a merit-based scholarship! WHAT IS HAPPENING. WHAT.
MalloryMac Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I was waitlisted. For those of you who were accepted, can you tell me by what date you have to notify Georgetown of intended enrollment? I'm curious when I could possibly hear back from them. I got into two other schools so far, so I'm wondering how much I should even consider Georgetown as a possibility.

I wouldn't give up hope of advancing from the waitlist, I get the sense that no IR program has a very high yield. I for one am probably turning down Gtown. Best of luck!
SnakePliskin207 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Any word from the other SSP applicants yet? All quiet in my inbox.Â
