The schools that rejected my application outright? I'm pretty sure they have a GRE cutoff, and I want to tell them how foolish that is. But I understand they have to winnow the field somehow...

The rejections I have so far I'm not too bummed out about... they were actually at the bottom of my list and didn't have as good a fit as the other programs. So I'm not sure I have anything in particular to say. My undergrad advisor, on the other hand, has lots of words for them. Colorful words. Colorful words used as adjectives, verbs, and nouns in the same sentence. 

 

I'm very likely going to be rejected by 2 of my top 3 programs (including my number 1 choice). To them, I say that they should have at least interviewed me. Then they would have found out how flipping brilliant I am

As far as if and when a rejection comes, I guess I would say "what took so long?". The waiting is awful.

Nah, seriously. It's petty, stupid, and a bit self-defeating, but I'll probably be one of those people who holds a grudge. I know I did this for schools who rejected me for summer research programs. Purdue was at least nice enough to formally reject me, but didn't have any faculty that really interested me. The rest were permanently crossed off my list of potential graduate schools when they couldn't even be bother to send an email. I have no regrets.  

 

Departments and/or faculty that are disrespectful this round are also earning my ire. I don't know how the hell I'm going to get around citing one of my POIs if I continue with my chosen research focus though....
